Yeah he was very publicly going through withdrawals at some point around then too. But he didn't get "too hosed up on drugs" in the sense that he made it out of that and is finding more of an audience every year.

I vaguely remember the tweets as he was going through it. I was usually super hungover when I was reading them. Reading his interviews about that process was OOF. But good for him on making that change. Helped motivate me in my journey. Him and Gucci.

I listened to a lot of Sage Francis, Personal Journals hit me pretty hard at the time. I went back and re-listened to some of his stuff recently, and while he's a good writer, he conveys incel levels of insecurity imo and the 'ironic' misogyny isn't funny to me anymore. The two themes do not paint a nice picture.

Les Miserables 2019 is pretty good but too obviously a La Haine homage (and also Training Day, it’s basically those two mixed in a blender with some Do the Right Thing) and it tries to both sides it too much La Haine rules
