Here is a 50 minute NPR interview with Earl Sweatshirt about his latest album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV_UQIs3er8 I thought it was pretty interesting, but I like Earl. The beginning is all about the release fiasco, but the latter half goes into the past two years for him. sleppy fucked around with this message at 19:59 on Jul 15, 2020 |

I'm pretty ignorant about the whole situation, but how much of this violence is actually related to the music? I'd imagine most of it is just gang violence that would be happening regardless. Are some of these kids actually killing each other over who is a better rapper, or is it just another match thrown in an already blazing fire?

so loving future posted:You got a link to that quote? Atlanta producer Dun Deal remembers when he first met a 16-year-old kid named Jeffrey Williams, now better known the rapper Young Thug. "He was always a cool person; he always dressed weird," says Deal, who helped craft Thug's first true viral hit, "Stoner". "And the way he used to write his music was pretty crazy. He would just draw what he wanted to do on paper. That's how he used to record; he would draw, like, a picture." What kind of picture? "Weird signs and shapes," Deal says. "He'd be in the booth looking at the paper, and one day I went in there and looked at it and said, 'You didn't write any words down.' He looked at me and said: ‘I don't need no words.'" http://pitchfork.com/features/overtones/9727-chaos-theory-the-glorious-unpredictability-of-young-thug/

I don't really get where all the hate is coming from for the new Avalanches song. I didn't see any of the hype built up and rather take releases like this is pleasant surprises, so maybe that's it, but I have been listening to it a poo poo ton the past few days. It's a weird beat with two weird rappers over it and is fun to bump. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjfspM5sDIA The video is about what you would expect, and I am a little disappointed Danny didn't make an appearance in such a fitting environment.

Gonna share this dude even though I have recently cemented my opinions as bad for liking the Avalanches. Dislotec is some odd white guy who raps over Breakmaster Cylinder beats. He released his first official single here http://dislotec.bandcamp.com/releases and I like it a lot more than some of his older stuff. Breakmaster Cylinder is imo the coolest smaller producer of any sort right now and does a lot of work on podcast themes so it all gets a unique sound that carries dislotec's mediocre rapping. Anyone else like this poo poo? https://soundcloud.com/breakmaster-cylinder/the-warning-signs-prod-breakmaster-cylinder https://soundcloud.com/breakmaster-cylinder/breakmaster-cylinder-x-dislotec-untitled-stbb-380 https://soundcloud.com/dislotec/dislo-and-bmc-stbb-434-morning-seppuku

Can someone post some more yachty rap? As cute as it is being greeting by autotune LIL BOAT I still prefer things like the first half of his mixtape intro to the second. His First M freestyle and song with DRAM are pretty good but anything with less singing would be cool.

I have always been sure that Kanye is bipolar, and wish it would be discussed more. It sounds like he might have been diagnosed, but doesn't want to take the meds for it since they can gently caress with creativity and stuff, which I understand. It has to be a pretty hard battle when either decision to take them or not can screw with your whole career. The mental issues are part of what got a lot of these people into their positions in the first place though.

blue squares posted:You think people should more often discuss their amateur diagnosis of a celebrity's supposed mental illness. Cool. Do you even know who Kanye West is yet? Most of his antics are just met with criticisms of him having too big of an ego or plain being an rear end in a top hat, but I have seen manic people do equally nutty poo poo and it's a lot more complex than that.

Not sure why you are so upset about me thinking a dude who has had extremely public outbursts of bipolar behavior is bipolar, but who cares. The only reason it bothers me is because any person less successful than Kanye himself would be treated differently in my opinion. I see mental issues instead of whatever Kanye's persona is supposed to be, and I don't have to be a doctor to think so. content for derail: check out Earl Sweatshirt's show if you haven't with Knxwledge https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6V6Z0nP5W4 he has good taste and teases a ton of stuff. introduced me to Ka on twitter a while ago and featured him heavily in this some kid named Mach Hommy sounded promising too around 56 minutes in and on this https://soundcloud.com/thagodfahim/sets/tgif-tha-god-fahim-x-mach-hommy I am upset I missed it today I think, but someone is bound to mirror the other episodes soon https://www.rbmaradio.com/shows/earl-sweatshirt sleppy fucked around with this message at 05:18 on Sep 24, 2016 |

Troy Ave then went on to basically say that anyone who commits suicide is a bozo on Sway in the Morning (and shoot someone I guess, didn't follow the case). Jeffery is probably my favorite album this year because I am constantly wanting to go back to a bunch of songs, and it was totally unexpected for me. If you told me I would be listening to Young Thug every few days last year I would have laughed, but something just clicked and I started appreciating everything about him.
