Really? Cause I've only watched the show, and I wasn't under the impression that she's a douche at all. I mean, even the kid is skeptical about Eph's claims of change.

Can you give some examples of the show framing her as a douche?

Even working for the CDC, it's pretty clear that he has been an alcoholic who has been frequently ignoring his familial obligations, and you're seeing things after they reached the last straw.
