Sorry Hat, I think your -5 minutes of FYAD fame are up.

On the flip side, I just finished Wolf Among Us. Fantastic game, and by far my favorite title Telltale has put out. I didn't have any gripes with the 5th chapter like others mentioned. What did people have issues with specifically? I thought it was fun, pretty intense, and had a really interesting final scene. I look forward to playing through a few scenes with a different choices to see how it pans out. Just all around enjoyable.

Time to move on to Splinter Cell. Keep trimming that backlog.

Finally fired up Magic 2015 and played through the tutorial. The UI seems just fine, not sure what the complaints are. Unless people mean the menus outside of a game? Those have always been scrolling, which is a little annoying to be fair. The UI seems functional enough to me - you don't need a ton of information on screen during a Magic game.

I played up until the small town bar area and I saw that it could have been good if it wasn't cut at the knees for that pipe dream known as the Call of Duty audience. Some parts like Chinatown and the strip club felt like they had the potential to be good Hitman levels but they never follow through. I got the game for free and I still felt like I kind of got robbed. Gamers ride the Sunk Cost Fallacy train really hard so I can see why people defended mediocre tripe like Absolution and the new Thief.

Sunk cost fallacy is certainly a thing, but so is mega goon hyperbole. Got Thief for free and paid $5 for Absolution. Really enjoyed them both. Don't know what to tell you. Tried playing the older games of each and was pretty bored. Deus Ex was another game that followed this pattern. Really enjoyed the new one but I absolutely can't stand the clunky original. Max Payne 3 as well. I am sure there are more.

Man, Magic 2015 is hard. I really miss the premade decks. I just don't have the effort it takes to arrange a bunch of boosters in to a solid deck. I somewhat regret my white/blue initial choice, but it's going to take a fair amount of packs to get enough cards to create anything else.

So how does this work? I figured it would be f2p with packs, but it looks like theres a base price, does that come with just a starter pack and then the 4.99 'collections' are packs ?

Every battle you win nets you a booster with 10 cards or so. I think the 4 areas in the campaign drop certain sets of boosters. You also pick one "type" of deck after the tutorial, which is what your first deck will be based off. I picked the white soldier/blue fliers deck. They aren't nearly as specialized as the previous iterations, so you need to beef your starter deck up with boosters. I imagine after a few wins and boosters you could start creating other decks.

The $5 packs give you every card from that campaign set. 5 sets in total I think. It would give you a massive head start on creating decks, so it may be worth it for some.

White/Blue is pretty decent but it's not a 'turn everything sideways to win' aggro deck. You have to make good use of the convoke and your blue fliers. You'll get some nice enchants later on that let you draw on attacking/getting damage through.

If you really want to switch colors, you can grind the Explore Innistrad node to unlock a few starter decks. But a lot of the challenge is from your opponent's cheating starting hands that allow them to play the perfect opening.

I played a handful of Explore Innistrad. No starter decks were unlocked, unless you meant having enough cards to make a new one from scratch?

I am doing all right with my deck - halfway through the second area now.

New starters unlock once you get enough cards that fit into the starter deck archetype. Getting 100% unlocks on Innistrad nets you a few decks (black/white and probably black/blue.)

Well that's nice at least. I assume they appear in my deck list with my custom one automatically?

It's hilarious that people are still surprised by Squeenix sales. It's like Tuesday Steam maintenance. For years now their games have hit 75% off within a few months regardless of sales. Tomb Raider, which sold extremely well (by normal standards, not Squeenix's) was half price on Amazon within a month, and 75% off at GMG the month after that. They are not afraid to discount a game.

The game is nothing special but it's entertaining enough. But seriously, look at the link posted above. The guy is writing at least a 12 part article on the game doing nothing but complaining. It's not even a review. It wouldn't matter what game it's for, or how bad or good that game is. It's a bit over the top. Much like the hate for Thief. It seriously isn't that bad.

However, I haven't finished the last 2 (I think) chapters. Maybe the ending shows a reflection in to the player's very own soul, so I may come to hate it along with every other goon.

You have probably played and enjoyed worse games than Thief 4 or Hitman Absolution.

Yeah this sums it up fairly well.

I am aware, thank you. I just meant it in the sense of someone asking "Hey is this game worth it?" and someone saying "WOAH NO you should read this short novel about why it isn't!" doesn't really help much. People usually want a nice/brief summary.

Vehement is a pretty strong word - just confused really. I've never said it was an awesome game. Just decent enough. A lot of people seem to be really bent out of shape about it though. I just don't get it. I felt the exact same way when people cried about Hitman Absolution at release.

I just mention it when it goes on sale causing people to ask about it, saying, "Yeah it is worth $10." I'd say the exact same thing about Hitman: AA.

If you link to slink around and shoot arrows in faces go for it. If you don't like loading times and demand all video game plots be art then don't go for it. I don't know what else to tell you.
