I believe she explained that it was because she wanted to provide for her child.

Which is an incredibly stupid reason, in my opinion. Cuz I wonder how much more money her lovely half-assed music has been making her lately?

Well her self-titled "sellout" album sold a bit less than Exile in Guyville in a much shorter period of time, so she may have been onto something once, but clearly a lot of those sales were from people who thought she was still making her old style of music; the album after s/t sold a dismal 80k, about 1/5 the sales of Exile or s/t.

No, it's not any worse than that, you're right. But it's still a baffling and massive step down from Whip-Smart or even Whitechocolatespaceegg.

To be fair, not listening to Raditude is probably a very good life choice. No matter how bad someone imagines it to be, the reality is probably much, much worse.

Occasionally I try to listen to the post-Pinkerton albums at work on a sort of fact-finding mission and I never manage it. I just pass out at my desk and wake up an hour later having missed lunch.

At least some of the more recent albums are sort of fascinatingly bad, like I can listen to that stupid Indian one about love and be, like, technically stimulated by marveling at how tacky it is, but the Green album, sheesh, it's just the most boring, inconsequential thing.

The sitcom should star two Cuomos, ala Me Myself and Irene or Youth in Revolt: Jonas, who wants to study and meditate, and the sinister El Pervo, who wants to gently caress and rock. I'm going to write a spec script for this ASAP.

I agree. They are pretty much of the same quality as the songs on the album. They have the same strengths (very catchy/elegant melodies, crunchy guitars) and weaknesses (nondescript lyrics, samey song structures).

Somebody put together all the song previews from the Youtube series, in the order of the album's tracklist.

So will this be, as /r/weezer is claiming, the album that "redefines comeback albums" (whatever that means)? Judge for yourself!

People were looking for Weezer alternatives earlier. May I suggest Dovetail Joint, an under-appreciated rock band from the late 90's/early 2000's? They made some great catchy tunes in a similar style.

I'm sure people are going to tell me exactly why this band "sounds nothing like Weezer" and that might even be true, but they are fun, power pop, punky, and also one of the most ridiculously overlooked bands of the 90s/early 00s.
