Actually there's a lot of French things that are superior to American things OP e.g. their cheese, their wine, their women, their chocolate, their art, their rich history and culture, their football team, their general sense of 'bon vivant'.

Also, American wines have dominated french wines in competition for close to two decades. First time it happened the French actually demanded a do over, and they still got owned by French judges no less.

Its such a thing now that most people I know associate French wine as hobo wine.

Clearly you've never experienced the pleasures of a Châteauneuf-du-Plâpe which I would suggest pairing with a full bodied cheese such as Epoisses or Pont L'Evêque for maximum enjoyment.
