If the minimum wage had increased along with inflation it would be something like $18/hr. today. Despite the fact the minimum wage has declined in real value over the decades the cost of living, goods and services has skyrockets. It's almost like this you have a really lovely argument.

Based on that it makes more sense for large retailers to increase their pay rates so their employees can buy more directly from them and increase the amount of income each store makes.

this_is_hard posted:You can regularly find job ads on craigslist and whatnot that require 3-5years experience and a shitload of requirements for an entry level, minimum wage job There are jobs that require master's degrees that pay less than $20,000 and require you to work six days a week. The job market is crazy.
