Great fun and delivers exactly what it promised and everyone seemed to be hoping for. Maybe a touch too much self-aware jokey stuff, but then all the jokes hit, so can't really complain.

The end really is Marvel-climax-by-numbers though. It felt at times like they *not really a spoiler* just changed the CGI from the Cap 2 and Thor 2 endings.

Good lord.

I just came home from seeing it.

It was pure unadulterated entertainment of the highest quality.

Absolutely perfect 80 ' s style scifi comedy.

And I'll agree with everyone else, it was an incredibly tight movie filled with jokes, and not one single joke fell flat.

The crowd absolutely loved it.

A USS Enterprise appears.
USS Enterprise uses 'Phaser Barrage'.
Its super effective.
Chiming in to echo the rest, fantastic fun all the way through.

Plenty of stuff for Comic fans and non comic fans or er soon to be fans at any rate.

the Dance off Distraction moment had me laughing for ages even after I left the theater, thinking about it now still brings a smile.

So glad that it worked.

I've never read the comics it's based on, but the feels I got from it was like watching Spaceballs for the first time, Guardians of the Galaxy is just that drat good/better.

I threw my money at the 3D showing with no regrets. Doubt anyone else in that showing was disappointed either. Except for the three squealing teens who bailed as soon as the credits appeared, everyone else in that rather packed theatre stayed for the post credits teaser.

I just came back from seeing this - It's easily the most fun of the Marvel movies and well worth going to see in the cinema.

I knew Groot would grow back from the splinter (I read the comics) but drat if I didn't get choked up during his death and Rockets reaction to it

Meant to see Transformers tonight, but got delayed by a road closure and saw this instead. Ended up being a lot of fun, up there with Cap 2 and Iron Man 3. The action isn't quite as good, but it makes up the difference with humor. Not the best thing Gunn has done, but felt more like his movie than it could have.

I would be very surprised if it's more than just a one-off joke. That said, very fun one-off joke. Glad I decided to check out of this thread until after seeing it, as it worked much better as a surprise and, naturally, it was impossible that some jackass wouldn't spoil it.

Just got back. I could not loving believe the end credits thing. I read the credits and noticed a thing about Alf of all things. Went "drat, I bet Alf was in the Collector's room and I missed it. I bet some absurd poo poo like Howard the Duck was in there since he is a Marvel property". I said this to my wife literally seconds before the scene started. My jaw absolutely dropped.

Yeah, it was just 30 minutes of YouTube videos of raccoons, nothing as amazing as some of the others.

As others have said this is literally the most fun you can have at the movies, it's seriously just amazing . What impressed me most was that they really did manage to balance Comedy Action and Real drama That first scene of the movie where he goes in to see his mom who's dying is very much a tear jerker, seriously that was just loving sad

Rocket stole the show and seriously they didn't actually have him just be a joke, the scene where he goes nuts in the bar over Drax calling him drama and him just unloading all his feelings was super great, and the scene where he teared up at Groot dying holy poo poo

I have to see it again because was laughing to much and missed all of the jokes.

Lee Pace was fantastic.

I really really wish that John C. Riley's wife had been the same tentacled, needle-toothed species that Quill had talked about earlier. I was really expecting that. Other than that, amazing film.

Though if I had to complain, the first 20 minutes after the credits was really clunky, and Karen Gillan was really hammy. Though I'm still not sure if the latter is a bad thing.

Yeah I missed some parts because of going to the bathroom, specifically can some one fill me in on When Gamora and Quill get captured by his old Ravager crew, they have them against the wall but what happens next I came back when it was Gamora, Drax, Groot, Quill , and Rocket before Quill gives the speech to save the Galaxy [/spoiler

I think what was also really neat was the fact that when their in actual space it's pretty you know sort of realistic in regards to [spoiler] being actually exposed to space, it does not instantly freeze you

Also I think it's cool that it's 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, it really is a fun good solid film.

Guardians of the Galaxy is easily the best Marvel movie. No comparison. Seriously, all I wanted was something well directed that took advantage of the medium and was actually interesting. I smiled through the entire film.

edit: Also, this is going to make Avengers 2 and Ant Man so boring in comparison. poo poo.

Starlord offers the scavengers the sphere if they'll help take down Ronan and they make a deal. Then the scavenger ship is suddenly rocked by some small weapons fire. Turns out it's Rocket and Groot in Starlord's relatively tiny ship shooting at them to get their attention. It's funny seeing the difference in the size of the ships. Drax is in a spacesuit right in front of the main observation windows of the scavenger ship pointing Rocket's bazooka gun at them threatening to blow it up and Rocket starts a countdown from 5, 4.. Starlord explains to Rocket the deal and it cuts to Starlord and Gamora back on Starlord's ship asking Rocket what the hell he was thinking giving a five second countdown.

One time a guy stole some downhill skis out of my jeep and I was so mad I punched a mailbox. I'm against crime, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
I just got home from this. It was a great space opera, and the humor was really well done. Even untested actors like Dave Bautista were great in their roles. TThis was the first Marvel movie to effectively use 3D as well, and the only one worth ponying up the extra cash for. This movie also probably had the best 3rd act in a Marvel movie yet, and it definitely had the best soundtrack.

My only major complaint is that there was a lack of exposition for some characters. We don't need drawn out monologues, but people who never read comics or stick around for post credit scenes would have no clue who characters like The Collector or Thanos are.

Well I mean do you really need exposition for a guy who is literally called The Collector and obviously collects things? I mean that's his whole deal.

The same goes for Thanos, he's literally the most powerful being in the universe probably. I think they even say that in the film.

Riven

Really great, can't wait to get the Blu-Ray and just freeze frame a million times to get everything on their prison eval screens, everything in the Collection, etc. There is so much detail and stuff going on I feel like I missed half the film, Ina good way.

A little disappointed with the Collector. He's a more sinister character in the comics. I was confused as to why he would want Groot's body, and then ignore a unique talking raccoon. I kept waiting for him to try and keep them as part of the deal. But there were already enough bad guys to fill the movie. We'll definitely see it again before it leaves theaters.

I don't feel like that mattered for this story. They play their parts exactly as they serve the story, as "the guy who wants to buy the thing" and "the guy who is the boss of the bad guy". Sure, the latter probably wouldn't be here if it was a self-contained film, but the film had enough exposition as it was. I feel like not all that much would have been lost if Quill had been captured on the deserted planet by the Nova dudes and just happened to meet Gamora, Rocket, and Groot on a prison ship.

Rocket is something that others were able to create, like any piece of tech. He may be unique in that there is one of him, but more could be made. This is how I rationalized the Collector's reaction to him.

Say Watt?

Alf's appearance was just as a trading card stuck next to the wall-mounted cassette player. There were a couple cards from either side and I think where we first see the Troll doll.

About the Nova Corps, I was pretty much expecting / hoping that they'd get annihilated and they came pretty close because isn't that how Nova gets his power, by having most of the power that would otherwise be split amongst the whole Corps? Then again it didn't look like any of them had any power at all.
