Alright more work time doodle while I take phone calls (now in Squid-approved 1000px width size).

This time I actually went for the topic and not random poop monsters. Though one day...

From the op I went with The Dogman of Michigan. Riding him are the Michigan Melon Heads which seems cruel since it's based on kids suffering from hydrocephalus. :( I drew it anyway! Also on the left you can find a tiny Bessie which apparently is a Loch Ness-like monster that lives in Lake Erie. Oooh scary!

EDIT: Holy balls this cryptid has a song!

Another collage of characters. Pay no attention to the same poses! I typically will draw the same pose with different characters when trying to do stroke/cartoon work. I like the gator and frog!

and I gave up on this one. It's all askew, but I kept it because I may just digitally correct and detail it.

Been working on my self-portraits - I haven't drawn one in years. Not entirely happy - it's close, but doesn't look QUITE like me. This was drawn freehand, I just overlaid it in GIMP to see how close I was. Not bad, but I hate that I have a tendency to pretty faces and figures up a bit as opposed to making them look more realistic. Something I'll have to practice.

I made some minor fixes to this and took a picture with better lighting:

And if anyone has pointers for acrylic painting incidentally I'd be open to them, especially since I'm starting to take actual money for doing these.

I know nothing about acrylics, but use more contrast. Black and purples are your friends.

And thank you redcheval.

Seconding the contrast comment. The eye is drawn to the area of highest contrast, and at the moment that's the warm rushes against the generally cold background.

Tried something new with this figure study

To the person asking about acrylic techniques: Use a lighting reference. The face feels flat because there's seemingly no definition where the brow bone meets the nose. Colors are nice, though.

My avatar's been bugging me the last couple of months, it was a thing I drew when I was doing 'maybe an hour every few days' of art - funnily enough, I've improved in the last year of 'art, sleeping, eating, or crapping ALL ELSE IS VERBOTEN'. So I figured I'd work up something new.

If they dont care, does that make them right? Focus and discipline are very important in art. Plus, imagine page after page of themed stuff, in every medium - it's inspiring! Let people post their life drawings somewhere else and we'd have more than 7 posts a day in here

Thanks! I was surprised how well that came out first try actually. Anyway, I reckon the best way to settle this is by giving it a go. One waydt thread, and one themed 10-minute doodle thread. If we have enough bandwidth of course :D See you on... tha flip side..
