Recruitment is still open, and we have no military types, but plenty of nerds, law enforcement, and non-violent criminals.

The game is currently in progress, and the AEGIS cell is currently investigating what seems to be a paranormal murder. At the NYPD HQ at One Police Plaza, the NSA agent, the CDC scientist, and the US Marshall are currently dealing with the brutalized body, and an obvious Black Book interest in the murder. At the crime scene, the getaway driver and the Secret Service agent have just narrowly escaped with their witness, after the army ranger ran into the paranormal murderer and proceeded to heroically hold it off until the others got away, and was then promptly torn to shreds.

Currently the group now lacks someone who can use something other than a pistol, and also lacks paranormal expertise.

Game: [RT] Rent-a-Trader
System: Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader
Format: PbP
Players: 5 or 6
Description: You're experienced. You're almost what one would call a hero amongst the Imperium. But the mighty always fall, and they always fall hard.

Now, you're taking the scrap missions from a retired and well-connected Rogue Trader who took a shine to your own warrant holder. He's rented you out his old rustbucket of a ship that you've just gotten out of drydock, and manned it with a crew greener than any ork. First brokered mission? Oversee negotiations with the tau.

This is intended to be a fairly light hearted and fast-and-loose kinda game. I'm not loving with ship combat, because ship combat sucks.

Game: [Deathwatch] Bury the Hatchet
System: Deathwatch
Format: PbP
Players: GM
Description: For three weeks now, our GM has promised us posts and tantalized us with plot threads in IRC. Every day, he would sit in IRC, chatting, promising posts at lunch, and then after work, and then on his days off. Every day, rumors of the tau world being a tomb world; maybe there are orks! Maybe chaos! Everyone wants that goddamned STC!

Now he's dropped it with a grunt and a fart, and we are three pages and 95 replies in with 6 GM posts. The story he had planned so far was for us to act as bodyguards to a diplomat negotiating with tau, but since literally nothing has happened that wasn't player driven so far, the story is wide open, because our asses are still sitting on the loving watch station waiting to be briefed.

So if you ever wanted to run Deathwatch without the hassle of recruitment, here you go! :v: If you wanna talk to us about it, all of the players are in #acolyte on synirc.net.

System: Marvel Heroic Roleplay
Format: Play-by-post
Players: 4-5
Description: I'm using the MHR system to run a game set in the TMNT universe, because gently caress trying to ever use the Palladium system. 1980's sci-fi and kung fu bullshit galore! It's a world that has an anthropomorphic turtle robot which shoots lasers from its eyes, wields a katana, and uses hydraulics to do round house kicks, and a frog that is basically Egg Shen.

Not sure on the plot as of yet but TMNT's got a lot of dumb stories to pull from so maybe stop an oil tanker full of mutagen from creating a New Atlantis outside of Manhattan? Stop a turf war between the mafia and an ancient ninja clan on the upper east side? Who knows.

Game: [Con-X 2E] Cult of Personality
System: Conspiracy X Second Edition
Format: PBP
Players: 5
Description: Defining Conspiracy X is hard. It is a world where humans contain the potential for psychic powers, and that very fact has prevented an alien species from being able to reproduce due to all of the static created by humans unconsciously using these powers at a low level. An ancient race of lizardmen have infiltrated the planet, hiding amongst us and orchestrating the assassination of JFK. Magic is real, to some extent, and the corruption caused by the supernatural and paranormal cause people to become twisted and turn into the monsters of folklore; people become vampires, werewolves, or in cases where what they know suits it, tiny green men who steal shoes.

Players are a member of AEGIS, a shadowy organization who strives to act pretty much like a mix of the Men in Black and X-COM combined; they draw from all branches of life, pulling in FBI agents, former criminals, Project MKULTRA patients, and beyond, all to protect the world from alien and paranormal threats, as well as an organization known as Black Book, who have allied with these forces to gain power over the planet.

This quote from the book summarizes well:

quote:

All roleplaying games have at their hearts the “What if . . .?” question. In Conspiracy X, the question is “What if aliens really were present on our planet? What if the government knew this all along? What would they try to hide?” By taking on the roles of Conspiracy X Cast Members, players have the chance to answer these questions and more.

Conspiracy X is a game that combines elements of government intrigue (shady covert organizations, shadow governments, paranoia), science fiction (the existence of aliens, abductions, the paranormal, alien invasions, black magic), and conflict (the war to save the planet from alien invasion, fighting other shadowy organizations and the forces of darkness).

In effect, anything is possible. From investigating Lovecraftian horrors or haunted places where teens are being killed off one by one, to alien invasions, psychic experimentation, and ultraviolent suit-clad agents battling for the survival of humanity, the world of Conspiracy X should challenge, thrill, excite, and inspire players and Chroniclers alike.

Thread: [WFRP2E] Vermintide
System: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, Second Edition
Players: 5 - 6
Format: Play by Post

In light of the recent release of the Vermintide game, I am running the Terror in Talabheim campaign, where Taal's holy city is besieged by the skaven; the Empire is currently fighting the Storm of Chaos and Archaron's host, and its defenses south of Kislev and the Norscan border are thin. The ratmen, knowing of this, have planned an attack to take and hold the impenetrable city of Talabheim, which is set into a massive, natural crater, said to have been formed when Taal himself suplexed a great wyrm to death.

Due to the difficulty of this campaign I am allowing players to be at the start of their third careers, with 300 XP to spend and an offering of bonus free advances should they choose to have their careers randomly chosen for them.

Game: [Marvel Heroic] Mutants for Hire
System: Marvel Heroic Roleplay
Players: 4-5
Format: PbP
Description: You are a team of mutants who have decided to attempt to eschew the standard 'save humanity from idiotic threats' strategy of the various X Teams and have instead moved to New Jersey to open a detective agency inspired by New York's own Heroes for Hire.

Of course you're still mutants in a world that isn't known for kindness and understanding, and there's l without worrying also the population of maniacs in costumes with powers similar to yours without your sense of right and wrong. You'll have your hands full with more than just dealing with the Maggia and people with daughters who claimed to have been kidnapped but are still just partying it up in Atlantic City.

Game: [Con-X 2E] The guy from the History channel was right!
System: Conspiracy X 2nd Edition
Format: PBP
Players: 4 - 6
Description: In the 1940's, aliens made themselves known to the world when a spacecraft belonging to a race of aliens named 'the greys' crash landed at Roswell, New Mexico. We learned then we weren't alone in the universe, and shortly after we learned of other extraterrestrial races with interests in our planet that put us at risk.

Since then, the US government has founded an organization known as AEGIS, whose goal is to keep intact the veil of secrecy over the alien conspiracy, while fighting back against the beings who would destroy our world for their own ends, while also safeguarding us from paranormal threats that have since begun to sprout around the world.

Con-X is basically a mix of X-Files, Men in Black, X-COM, Supernatural, and Ghostbusters; each player is a member of either an American organization or a liaison from a foreign power's own supernatural and extraterrestrial research and defense team, working to protect the planet from aliens, ghosts, monsters, and the humans who would conspire with them for their own personal gain. It's mostly a d6/d10 system so it's super easy to learn, and is very narrative oriented; right now, the current apps mostly want to focus on investigation and the less combat oriented threats.

Game: [MHR] The Great Plains Avengers are recruiting!
System: MHR
Format: PbP
Players: 5-6
Description: Most of the superpowered action goes on in the northeast, where the greatest heroes and villains clash in titanic struggles that at times will determine the fate of reality itself. Unfortunately, you're in the midwest, and most struggles couldn't be defined as 'titanic' and typically determine the outcome of the state fair.

Be the thin caped line defending the little Kansas city you call your homebase and its population of 50,000. Fight supervillains that aren't exactly inspired but likely just as deadly as the big guys fight in the big cities.

One of my players got toxxed immediately after the game began and has not re-reg'd. So, we have an open spot! Right now the team is fighting a guy in a Wal-Mart pirate costume who can shoot laser blasts from his mouth outside of a CA$H 4 GOLD shop in Kansas, so we're still in the first scene!
