You're suppose to be bad at it. Rouge Legacy is super hard, and you don't really get good until you level your castle and keep playing.

The controls feel quite fiddly, which doesn't blend well with the enemies damaging you just by touching as well as having various long-range attacks. I'll keep going with it, though.

You guys were not kidding. God of War Ascension is amazingly terrible. Sure, the plot is wafer thin and the graphics are unpolished (I've seen massive framerate hits), but I kinda expected this to be a filler God of War game. But for the first time ever, the combat system has been completely hosed with for no real reason. Removing the L1 counter for some super janky (L1+X) nonsense completely kills the flow of the game. I'm about four hours in and I think I've unlocked the rage meter moves once or twice. What a mess.

Narcissus1916 posted:You guys were not kidding. God of War Ascension is amazingly terrible. You don't even unlock new weapons, like the Blade of Olympus in II or the Helius Cestus in III, you just get elements for your blades which determine the type of orbs that are dropped by the enemy. For instance, you might need some health, so you'd use the element that would give you more health drops. I don't think there are any enemies with elemental weaknesses. Parrying is terrible, since in the previous games you just had to tap L1 when the enemy hits you to do a powerful counterattack, but now you need to hold L1 and press X when they hit you. It's probably a change made for the multiplayer, since you'd be more careful about attacking a blocking enemy, but in single player it's annoying since it often screws up your jumps. The whole game just involves running from location to location with no goal in mind or characters to meet. I guess they spent so long on the engine for God of War III that they felt they needed to make another game with it before it became obsolete.

They just need to release 1 new game every quarter and everything else can be HD remasters of anything older than 5 years.

It depends on the price. For $20 or so, I'd love to play through a good looking RE1 without the tank controls.

Yeah the article mention it's gonna be close to 40 dollars in Japan. But they should release it for like 15 dollars here on ps3 and 20 dollars on ps4. That's just a better price point and that's what they did with re4. It came out for like 20 bucks I think.

A lot of the tension came from the fact that you couldn't see properly and you moved like molasses. RE4 was a great game, but it really traded any attempt at horror for the gameplay.

The RE1 remaster seems fine to me - it looks nice and makes the game more available to people who lack a GC/Wii/Wii U. Also, maybe they're testing the waters to see if remaking RE2&3 the same way would be worth it? because that would own.

The Resident Evil remake was actually a great loving game. I'm super excited to play it on the PS4. Side note: Final Fantasy XIV plays extremely well on PS4. I logged in and did a session a Crystal Tower to check it out and there was only noticeable slowdown on King Behemoth. I don't think I'll be playing it on PC anymore...then again I had my share of Coil and have no desire to hardcore raid anymore.

Capcom Japan did this for RE4/CVX and the Chronicles HD remasters, so it's not too surprising.

Man, I recently paid like $30 to get a gamecube version off ebay because I really wanted to play it and was sure it'd never happen It's one of the best Resident Evils though, certainly of the 'classic' style. How about a HD remaster of The Twin Snakes next please.

Didn't they give some incompetence excuse regarding this a few years ago? Like they lost the original assets or something so they couldn't re-render at higher resolution? I LOVE the remake so much but it seems weird for this to be happening now. IIRC it got a pretty lukewarm to poor reception when it came out on the Wii several years ago, and that's where it still looked very nice because they didn't stretch anything unnaturally. Remember when they were gonna give the REmake treatmen to 2 and 3. I love both of the Chronicles games too but it's a shame we ended up with those because Capcom cheaped out and gave Cavia a bunch of assets to make rail gun games instead. About a year ago my wife and I did a play through of REmake/0/2/3/Veronica/4/5 again (we still haven't touched 6 yet, I keep waiting for it to be on PS+ in the US) and god drat 2 and 4 are seriously still two of the best games ever made of any kind. This was such a cool series because of its atmosphere and the off kilter level structure and baroque puzzle stylings. RE4 was such a perfect blend of those elements and an action game, I mean it and Freedom Fighters aren't talked about much now but those two games basically defined what a third person shooter is to this day. RE5, despite having a bigger budget felt "cheap" in comparison because they didn't work as hard on selling us on the feel of it. Though there are ones that go to the opposite extreme like Code Veronica where it definitely tries too hard, but the weird constant switching from old aristocratic room to tech-lab worked for it than RE3's constant switching from alley way to warehouse. They've had a new building for their police station for years now, but the station near where I lived in NJ was literally an old red brick school house originally that still held both weekend kid program things as well as the actual police prep stuff in its basement. It's such a one in a million thing because I think myself and my friends at the time were the only people on the planet that played RE2 when it came out and were like well duh, of course there's an art installation on the second floor of the station next to the offices why would that be weird? I ended up playing Towerfall: Ascension for the first time with some friends last night. That game is awesome. We jumped in and before we knew it an hour was gone. The movement feels solid and the game feels fair, with a penchant for the ridiculous with how some of the fights ended. I'm really glad that came out on PS+ because I probably wouldn't have picked it up otherwise, but it'll definitely be something we go back to.

I'm super excited for the HD port of REmake. It's the best in the series in my opinion and I feel bad for anyone who calls themselves a Resident Evil fan and never got a chance to play it. I bought a Gamecube for that game. It was at the time where I was too young to work and had to do chores and things all summer for my parents to buy a Gamecube for me. The hype was unreal and it totally delivered and then some. Can't wait for this port. Never thought it would happen.
