I'm going abroad for several months to a country that doesn't have hulu or Netflix or hbogo and I refuse to enjoy a foreign culture firsthand if I can't rewatch the league for the 5th time or keep up to date with late night talk shows. What's a good VPN? I was thinking of vyprvpn but I have no experience or knowledge thanks for the help SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY!!!

Buy a DigitalOcean VPS and host OpenVPN there. It's 5 bux per month and you get your own server to go with it. I did just that today and it's very easy. Netflix authenticates via DNS https request, so I'm not sure if that'll work unless you change your DNS settings too, but at least you'll get encrypted access to the VPS so you can secure your traffic between you computer and DigitalOcean. openvpn doesn't work on iPhone or iPad. so use ppptp also you can't run a VPN from most openvz vps's. so the cheapest solution is probably a xen vps from one of the many fine fly-by-night hosts at lowendbox.com I believe wable.com has some really cheap deal for VPSs that's under $1 but all I know is they are idiots on the business end and so maybe technical too. ignore all this if not poor though PleasureKevin fucked around with this message at 16:32 on Aug 6, 2014 |
