Won't ISIS just charge in and start shooting up the place to keep the refugees from getting to the supplies?

Assuming the Yazidis are even lightly armed, ISIS would have a hell of a time rooting 40,000 of them out of a mountain. Trouble is, it's a mountain so dropping them supplies really only works until October, then they all die of exposure.

That, and the rage from it has spread to other regions and radicalized people there. The Boston marathon bombing didn't happen in a vacuum, they were pissed about the wars

Well that, and Tamerlan Tsarnaev was a legit psychopath.

I do appreciate the naive assumption that having RNC delegates from around the country crowd into a city for a week will make residents of that city more likely to vote Republican.

"Why those Idaho boys really did have some good points about racial purity. Yes, I think I'll cast my ballot now."

I was around for 08 in Minneapolis. The city was a police state for the duration, and all of my favorite bars were crowded with prostitutes and drunken Republicans.

The woman who did the porn spoof "Who's Nailin' Palin?" was headlining for the week at a local strip joint. I stopped in out of curiosity, but left when she came on because the clientele sounded like a Tex Avery Cartoon.

Got tired of politics and just started sourly barking out, "Lyndon LaRouche!" whenever anyone asked me who I was voting for.

I remember back in 08 Obama was running ads with The National's Fake Empire, which was a great song but not really what I think of as a hopeful or energizing song.

I love Joe Biden, but he isn't going to beat Hillary Clinton in the primary.

I think many people, myself included, believe a President Hillary Clinton would effectively be President Clinton, Inc. Part 2. Clinton, Inc. has had pretty good political success and has good relations with many folks in Washington, especially on the right.

Speaking of which, there was a good interview about the recent book on Clinton, Inc. Highly recommend it (don't be scared away by Juan Williams, it's actually a pretty objective discussion on the Clintons).

It's going to be weird hearing "Whitewater", "FBI Files", and "Cattle Futures" discussed seriously in the news again.

Interesting, but I don't know how much it will hurt McConnell.

quote:

McConnell’s Campaign Manager Steps Down

WASHINGTON — Senator Mitch McConnell, already facing what could be the toughest election in his career, lost his campaign manager on Friday night.

The manager, Jesse Benton, issued a statement just after 6 p.m. abruptly announcing his departure and citing reports about his “role in past campaigns.” Mr. Benton was referring to his job as a senior official in former Representative Ron Paul’s 2012 presidential campaign, which paid an Iowa state senator to switch his support from Representative Michele Bachmann to Mr. Paul right before the state’s caucus.

The state senator, Kent Sorenson, who resigned last year, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to obstruction of justice charges stemming from the bribery scandal. He acknowledged accepting $73,000 from Mr. Paul’s campaign to drop his support for Mrs. Bachmann.

Mr. Benton has not been implicated in the case, but his position in Mr. Paul’s campaign has revived questions about what he knew about the bribe, and the case put Mr. McConnell, the Senate minority leader, on the defensive during an already difficult week.
