You know, like a Swedish Tom Clancy. Guillou's Hamilton series maybe? Guillou is fairly good, although having read little of his work, I can't comment definitively. Karin Alvtegen is another good author for this - I've seen "Skuld" and "Svek" used in intermediate classes for learners, as they've got relatively conventional plots and fairly easy language to understand.
