DO NOT DO TRAN'S PLAN Limosa could be trusted to enact a plan that prevents his death and results in his survival. What exactly makes any of you think he could be trusted to accurately carry out a plan that ensures the survival of what would be, by that point, his rival's retinue? Especially one that explains that we're explicitly going to nuke ourselves and everyone around us. For that matter, even if he COULD be trusted, what in the Sam Hill do you imagine Tanya could do? In what way is she going to have our closest allies pretend to be following us without actually following us in a way that doesn't rouse our suspicions enough that we start shooting or call the whole thing off? Paper masks with the faces of Fabiyan et al on them? Kriegers trying really hard to imitate Tanya's voice? Is it going to be replicants all the way down? Is Devries going to end up forgetting the drat bomb in favor of taking his massive profits from selling so many drat clones that he retires on a tropical planet somewhere? We're trying to be so clever we're cutting ourselves in half. Seriously - we have advisors whose competence is promised by prophecy, talk to them. Ask them what they think we should do to accomplish our goal, and how.

Music is Mark of the Gun by Deathstars Misapprehensions You started to reply acidly, stalled. Your mind blanked for a moment. What were you doing? You looked around you, tried to get your bearings. Galahad had arrived, or you had just noticed him, and was removing his helmet. The grotesque features of human and xeno stared back at you, and you could feel your skin crawling. Limosa, however, was looking at the xeno with undisguised fascination. “You work with Eldar in the future?” “Yeah… wait, how did you get into the Ways if you don’t know the Eldar yet?” Confusion roared through you. Galahad smiled, an alien expression on an alien face, with little in common with Humanity. His voice was more musical, you noted. “It’s about that time.” You flexed your muscles, extending your mind into your weapons. Something was off. “Time for what, xeno?” “Time for us to go.” You stared at him. “We’re already going.” “No. Limosa and I are going.” “What?” Galahad’s voice took on a condescending tone. “Come now, you were told you needed Innocence to succeed. Did you think it was your innocence, or mine? Its his. He will need proper guidance for what is to come. Consider it one of the ways you will repay us for using the Ways.” “And if I don’t?” The half-eldar shrugged. “I suppose it depends on how much you believe Kaydras. He said you needed three people for three tasks, but those tasks are ours, not yours. Pay them, and consider yourself lucky.” What do you do?

Incipient violence The confusion left you, leaving you with the clarity of the cold rage. Trust the xeno to betray you, to lead you into the ways and abandon you. Your mission, rescuing humanity, was nothing to them, and rescuing Eldar became nothing to you. Perhaps you could do nothing about it now, but someday - the Eldar would look up and ask you for help, and you would say no. Your power fists curled and clenched in anticipation of that glorious day, when you can turn them into pulp and blood. You considered doing it even now, a siege drill to the back of the head as they walked away, but no - killing Limosa in the past would confuse far too much. Let them walk away, but when you found your way out of the Webways, they would pay for their betrayal. Where to go from here? Miriam was moving slow, here in this place of ancient time, but she pushed forward, cowl over her face. The strange architecture was shifting to long platforms and extended stairs, latticework and lace. You got the feeling of a vast and infinite tree, with time as the trunk, and the branches being individual locations in those times. You could hear the tinkling of bells, and children’s Iaughter. You weren’t sure why the changes had occurred, going from an almost claustrophobic brutality to this airy and open place. There was little light, and sometimes the echoes of the noises came back… strange. Dolling of sonorous bells, children’s crying. It was hard to say in a place like this, what was real, what was perception. And you weren’t as sure of yourself these days. You asked Miriam for advice, for guidance, but she had drawn in on herself. And so you pressed forward, in a direction you weren’t sure of, hoping the Omnissiah was with you. Ahead of you, on the platform connecting to yours, a figure was approaching. You checked your weapons with a fair amount of excitement - they weren’t close enough for drills, but perhaps the other weapons would provoke them into approaching. The Dwarf looked at you, guided your weapons downwards. “Let’s see what it is first, yeah?” The figure was cloaked in traditional Imperial garb, from some Hive world or another - all greys and blues. Your sensors picked up a rather interesting amount of weapons, including some blessed and consecrated grenades. Briefly, you considered killing them and using them for your own protection. A place like this, property was what you could keep. They slowed as they approached, seeming to look you over. “A Space Marine in the Webway? And with a servitor, a dwarf, and a henchman. What are you doing here?” Her voice tensed. “And whom do you serve, in this place?”

Note that the question was "Who do you serve in this place," which would be the Imperium and the Omnissiah, same as any other place. Had she (?) asked "Who do you serve in coming to this place," it might have been a bit more of a dilemma. Hooray semantics!
