You spent 2000 Kriegers and 5000 drug cultists getting to it, plus used 10 space marines and 15,000 Krieg and 100,000 Drusians to hold off the counter attack. Your psykers couldn't even enter the room, and you had to find a blank to even approach.

Our strength is high, but not nearly a match for most of the things that actually fight with their muscles. It's important to know that in the game system we're using there are two mechanisms for determining physical or mental attributes. The percentile value is one of them, but then there are unnatural attribute traits. We actually have two of these in the form of unnatural intelligence x2 and unnatural ballistic skill x2. They act as scale multipliers to the affected attributes. Any of the real strong xenos or even augmented humans can be expected to have unnatural strength x2 or possibly even x3.

So yes, in her armor Ohone is strong. However, against anything actually focused on raw physical power we'd struggle to even hold our own.

Edit: To head off the inevitable question, yes we can get unnatural strength augmentation fairly easily. We've chosen not to, as for our skillset the drawbacks outweigh the advantages.

Music is Monsters by Gothminister

Do you believe in Monsters

What was it with Kiera and invisible monsters? You’d think she’d have come up with another gimmick by now. Since the grotesque and your psider hairnet hadn’t detected it, that meant it was probably technological in nature. You flicked on your psyocculum.

No, wait, you take it back. This was the grotesque. Five meters high and nearly the same across, what seemed like a dozen limbs all the size of tree trunks. A ridiculous amount of spikes and claws and teeth. You shook your head. That was the problem with Biologis, they didn’t know when to stop. It took an engineer to appreciate simplicity...

The hurricane bolter in your chest opened up, slamming the creature with dozens of explosive shells. The chitin fragmented, but showed little other damage. That wasn’t good. Maybe a souped-up hive tyrant? Her sister had liked those, you remembered. You lunged forward, power drills active. It wrapped around you in an embrace. Faster than you. Stronger, too. The drills bored into the creature’s exoskeleton, burrowing deep, before stalling. Glancing down, you could see interior walls of flesh pinning your forearms in place. What in damnation was this?

You shifted your weight, activated flamer and meltagun at point blank range. You needed some space, and this gave it to you. It ducked away, freeing your arms. You lobbed a volley of grenades, exploding the floor and meat on it, but doing little else. The gap in its chest shifted, revealing a similar storm bolter. You barely got out of the way as it destroyed the wall behind you. This was happening too fast. It was hissing at you. Laughing.

It took you a moment to realize those were words. Low Gothic.

A swarm of poisonous darts launched towards you, embedded in your armor. You hoped that was the last of their effect, not that they were going to stall your weapons or something. You fired back with your eye implant, scoring off more armor. The dance continued, even as the monster spoke. “Do you know what a Magos can do with the True Mysteries?”

“Die, usually. I already killed her sister.” It swung at you in response, your power drills met its chain-claws in a spray of sparks.
“No, Brevet-General. We killed her sister.” In the moment of confusion, the creature twisted, lopped off your left arm. Agony flooded you as you stared at the face, extended over a meter, filled with teeth.
”Matthias?”
“You never really were ready for the big time, General. It was only luck that got you this far.”

What do you do?

Hahah, hahah, ha, haaa.... gently caress. So this, this is very bad. Not because of the fight, or because we've lost yet another of our very small pool of friends. No, this is bad because Matthias was one of only two other people to have been with us when we found the Olympus. Tanya is dead, but Matty here joined up with Magos Kiera here. We should assume the Dark Mechanicus knows about the Olympus. Golgotha is so incredibly hosed it's hard to even imagine. Oops.

Around this point we should be screaming something along the lines of "What have you done" and trying very, very hard to kill Matthias. Probably to the point that we keep pulverizing the remnant bits long after he's dead.

Well, if she hadn't before, the Magos has definitely signed her death warrant now.

That said, there is some pretty troubling news here. We just lost our left arm. This means two things:

1) Matthias here can go through some pretty high quality power armor.

2) Unless Lowell is just playing up for dramatic effect, we're out of wounds (HP) and are starting to take some very serious critical effects. Death is near. Whatever we do, however we plan this, if there was a time to spend a fate point, this was it (it won't stop the fate point burning if we die, FYI).

The creature was hidden in some technological way, and being a tech priest is still our biggest asset, can we reach out and see if there is anything electronic we can manipulate? Perhaps shutting down its invisibility, or even hinder the creature itself.

Now that we're at the final boss fight for this segment, I'd like to talk about what, exactly, needs to be done after this. The ship is completely hosed up. Even if it survives the trip to Titan, it'll need to spend years in drydock being repaired. This is unfortunate, but if we put in the time and effort it could be a boon. We could take the time to make major retrofits to the ship. As for what we do while the ship is in drydock... well, most of the ship's populace is dead. We need to find people who can run the various areas of the ship. A major concern, I think, should be making sure no single entity has too much control. As useful as any group might seem, they're all prone to revolt eventually.

With... one exception, perhaps. I'd like to toss an idea out, to make the services of the Beast available as a formal Imperial Guard transportation ship. After being retrofitted, it will be packed as full as possible with Kriegers, with a Drusian contingent in charge of the chapel and nothing else and a small Mechanicus contingent in charge of the engines and nothing else. We'll have to ferry them around for crusades at times, but we can always just requisition them for our own purposes as an Inquisitor should needs be.
