So this is just me being spergy. I like reading army lists (I grew up on Battletech), so here’s a list. Its not vital to the story, just something Ill use for my resources. Your ranks are very deflated still, as everyone is promoted past their training. These aren't vehicles right out of the factory, either, they are salvaged and held together by tape.

Now we have an Electoo on our palm we can will to be shown that shows us as an Inquisitorial agent working for the Inquisitor, but it does not grant us his authority. Big big difference.

Your math was solid, as far as it went. Two individuals, one sicker than the other. The healthy one, a damaged Tech-Priest, one you had hacked in the past, who had been crippled for his failure. The other, a drugged out mess, insane, deranged, and full of mange. You expected him to be Devries, trapped in his lair at last. With some sort of trap or bomb or device, to be sure. You expected it there to be monologuing and banter, and his usual triumphant rambling.

There was a bomb. A Nallani Fusion Device, to be precise.



You recognized it, of course - you had asked for them on Golgotha. And wired into them, a human figure, as you expected. But it was not Devries - it was Commissar Payna, hidden away for the last several months. He was skeletal thin, glassy eyed, out of his mind on drugs and painkillers. He probably hadn’t even noticed he was starving.

He spoke as he clicked off the dead man’s switch.

I'm talking about the narrative. We don't blow ourselves up and all our inner circle, and just go back a bit humbled and accept a weaker position. This is the kind of event which changes the course of the story dramatically, its not something we can dust off.

The main thing to remember right now is that Ohone is tremendously ill at the moment. She started with that Authoritarian personality, which meant her empathy was pretty much removed for people who didn't follow their place. This was most notable when she full processed those pilgrims back in Arc 1. In addition to this, she has a large element of 'beep boop Ohone', which is just because she grew up on a world of machines and no people skills. So for the most part, she doesn't understand other people's emotions, but she does know enough about them to manipulate them. Wiki tells me that she would qualify for Antisocial Personality Disorder, with 'deception, as indicated by repeatedly lying, use of aliases, or conning others for personal profit or pleasure;' 'reckless disregard for safety of self or others;' and 'lack of remorse, as indicated by being indifferent to or rationalizing having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another.'

Looking at wiki for Psychopathy,, she has very high Boldness, ' Low fear including stress-tolerance, toleration of unfamiliarity and danger, and high self-confidence and social assertiveness.', and very high Meanness 'Lacking empathy and close attachments with others, disdain of close attachments, use of cruelty to gain empowerment, exploitative tendencies,'. She's pretty okay on impulse control and planning ahead, however. Finally, looking at Narcissism, we can say she has 'personal standards are unreasonably high in order to see oneself as exceptional,' 'Impaired ability to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others; excessively attuned to reactions of others, but only if perceived as relevant to self; over- or underestimate of own effect on others.' 'Intimacy: Relationships largely superficial and exist to serve self-esteem regulation; mutuality constrained by little genuine interest in others' experiences and predominance of a need for personal gain' and 'Feelings of entitlement, either overt or covert; self-centeredness; firmly holding to the belief that one is better than others; condescending toward others.'

Finally, we have her life experiences - Paranoia 'excessive sensitivity to setbacks and rebuffs, tendency to bear grudges persistently, i.e. refusal to forgive insults and injuries or slights;, suspiciousness and a pervasive tendency to distort experience by misconstruing the neutral or friendly actions of others as hostile or contemptuous;' and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which we've seen pretty much the entire game. Finally, we're entering Dissociative episodes, where things feel unreal. Wiki derealization has paragraphs of symptoms which I won't copy here.
