Okay, I'll confess here. I always tip when eat at a restaurant, but I usually do not tip if I'm getting takeout from a restaurant.

wait are we talking about that curbside takeaway from applebees or whatever bullshit? if so, then lol

i never tip if im picking up a pizza or some sandwiches or whatever.

I'm talking any restaurant. Pizza place, Applebees, the nice Greek place down the street... I usually don't tip if I'm getting takeout.

I go out to eat a lot, but only get takeout a handful of times per year. They usually just take my card over the phone and when I get there they just hand me the food. I normally never have to take out my wallet during the process.

and still, lol applebees

Only got takeout once from Applebees a few years ago when hurricane Irene knocked out power to my town for three days. It was right across the street from where I work and I was desperate :qq:

It's actually not that bad. People believe they need to tip huge, and it's mostly tax free money. I made mad bank as a bartender, it was a great time.

The people I know who work in bars almost never shut up about the crazy amount of TAAAAX FREEEEEE money they make in tips every night.

Anytime I dine out with good service and the bill is under $100, I leave a 100% tip. Meaning I copy the amount from the total onto the tip line and add it up.

When I was in the US taxi drivers expected a tip, please explain why I should give them extra money for doing their job of driving me the fastest route from one place to another? Also barmen/ladies expected tips why should I tip someone for reaching into a fridge and handing me a bottle of Newcastle Brown Ale?

I tip cab drivers $2 flat, unless they deliver a baby on the way or something.

I don't understand who I'm tipping because there is usually someone who takes my order, and then shows up occasionally when they're not on a smoke break, and an entirely different person actually brings me my food. Is this person only qualified to carry food? Is the waitress above carrying food?

Yeah I hate when that happens :agreed:

It's called "generosity", try it some time. I make good tips because I'm loving awesome at my job. I also do private events on my own time to help out with cashflow. I'm not exactly starving, because I'm smart with money and I work my rear end off.

As it stands, I don't eat out very much. But to go to a bar, order a $5 drink and give the bartender a ten ain't gonna break me, you, or anyone who should be out drinking. If I'm going to sit down and eat a meal, it's usually a special occasion, and I budget for them (and the tip) accordingly.

I fail to see how a $40 tip is insanity, but you'll drop $10 to register and another $5 for an avatar on a comedy forum. Me? I've spent $40 on way dumber poo poo than making another human being's life tangibly less awful, even if for a brief moment.

I know there's a sucker born every minute, but holy poo poo you count for two.
