Unreadable data is fine too, provided I get a couple of days ahead notice of doom (I know this is impossible to get). You should never, ever assume this about any storage media. Just because you don't run into a write-endurance failure doesn't mean there won't be another reason that the drive decides to fail on you and not let you read anything on it. That's what backups are for.
