EDF has the best shotguns. I mean I respect the Doom one but I've never seen that blow a UFO the size of a b-ball court out of the sky from a mile away or kill mecha-Godzilla.

I like how if you have a shotgun equipped on an outlander in Torchlight 2 you can use the rapid fire skill to turn it into an assault rifle. e. I was really hoping there would be a sawed off shotty in that game that was a 1 handed pistol with a damage arc.

Agreed. Quake 4 has a really good one. I rate shotguns based on how much it makes the enemy "go" when they get hit with it, and the quake 4 shotty has some real go factor

Nuclear Throne as the Auto Slugger, a fully automatic shotgun that fires slugs that bounce off walls. Combined with the mutations to make shotgun ammo bounce further and to increase your rate of fire and you got yourself one hell of a corpse maker.

It's probably the least fun hitscan weapon in Quake Live, OP. I still like it a lot but, well, rocket launcher's and plasma gun's are cooler.

The shotgun in Doom 3 is a disgrace. It sounds like you're popping a balloon when you shoot. In short, Doom 3 sucks. Peace out.

Let us not forget the pre-nerf Mosconi from Payday 2, which was a good old-fashioned double-barreled shotgun. See, in Payday, if at least one pellet hits a enemy, the enemy takes the full damage value of the weapon. And like any good double-barreled video game shotgun, the Mosconi had truly ridiculous damage. It still does. But before the nerf... there was no damage dropoff over distance. It was glorious.
