ok, i'm legit interested in the hotel setting. i even enjoyed the schlock that was 1408 . was freakshow any good or was it as bad as coven? i stopped somewhere just after the clown got killed by a deus ex machina

I really struggle with the question of which was worse: Coven or Freak Show. They're almost exactly parallel in their terribleness. Coven might have had more cringeworthy stuff though. I'm going to watch this next season though. I don't know why

Yeah but Coven was at least hilarious as gently caress every single episode. Freak Show was so boring I stopped watching it with three episodes to go and only finished it just the other day. Coven was just a complete, ridiculous train wreck. Watching my friends get really into all the shady bitchiness all season and then get hit with a major "WTF was this entire show" when it ended was especially hilarious. By the second to last episode "YAS QUEEN" had devolved into "yas...queen? what".

Id put Coven slightly ahead of Freekshow. Covens plot was god awful but it still had a lot of really cool elements and a lot of humor. Freak show had a handful of neat ancillary characters but the plot was... Well I don't even remember or care about the plot if there was one, it was boring as all hell and had lots of terrible music numbers. I couldn't tell you one interesting thing That happened in FS that didn't involve Twisty, NPH, Mordrake, or Dandy. The first 3 were in barely half the season combined.

It'd be great if she became a regular fixture of the series, she was one of the best parts of Twin Peaks. Of course that'd come down to me actually watching future seasons of AHS. I don't know. As much as I love to hate on the show, even at its worst it's so self-indulgent and messy that I can't look away even while I'm hating myself for watching it.

Coven was way better than Freakshow. Coven was, at least, entertaining, which is the ultimate goal of any TV show. Sure it was scatterbrained and dumb, but it was entertaining throughout. Freakshow was the most boring thing I tried to watch last year. Turns out that killing off almost every interesting character early in the season is a bad idea... RIP Patti LaBelle

I have more fun watching Coven for sure, like Freak Show started out with potential to be a little more like Asylum before ultimately proving so boring I didn't finish it til a couple weeks ago. Coven is awful but makes me laugh my rear end off and is full of glorious scenery chewing.

Maybe it's an age thing, but I loved Coven. It reminded me of growing up watching Buffy and Kevin Williamson movies. I hated freak show and never finished it. Also someone on Reddit claimed that Taissa and Ryan Murphy had a falling out. Has anyone heard anything about that? And is AHS Hotel set in modern times or is it a period piece because some of the story points don't really make sense in modern times.
