 If you have a desktop motherboard with Thunderbolt 3 on it, can the Thunderbolt 3 port carry video from a GPU plugged into that motherboard?

Put another way, I'd like to plug my desktop into a Thunderbolt 3 dock, to use the dock as a sort of KVM switch. I don't think this is possible but maybe it is?
