Well, the Japanese already did rebuild part of Kowloon Walled City as an amusement park near Tokyo. It's more of an arcade then a slum though.

KWC has always fascinated me because it's basically at the other end of the population density spectrum as I have lived my whole live. I guess there's still that in HK, though.
