Brock Nelson had two points in the earlier split squad scrim vs. Ottawa and now Grabovski has 2 points in the first two periods tonight, based on this I feel quite safe in guaranteeing them maintaining this and the islanders having the best offense in the nhl this season. also: gently caress the teams that actually get to have their games televised

I like Clemmer but I think Ol' Kinky should be backup. Also, I like Reid Boucher a lot. Even last year when he wasn't scoring goals, he did not look out of place away from the puck and he created some opportunities, and he looks pretty involved so far. I think if the Devils move Clowe down to the fourth line (he's that sort of player anyhow) and try Boucher with Henrique and Ryder against third-line competition, he could do pretty well; he's hard-nosed and gets pucks to the net, and Henrique can clean up garbage well. Realistically, Boucher will play the fourth or Albany to start, and the top nine looks set in stone as: Cammalleri-Zajac-Jagr Zubrus-Elias-Havlat (he looks pretty nice, but we all know he's gonna play 35 games) Clowe-Henrique-Ryder EDIT: Forgot about Tuomu Ruutu, who will play, I guess, as the most expensive fourth liner in the league. There is a massive logjam at fourth line, with Gionta, Josefson, and Bernier, Carter unsigned, Matteau and Boucher being NHL-ready (in my mind), even Tootoo doesn't look bad. And then there's Damien Brunner, who looks to be the odd man out, since he can't play a grind game on the fourth line but there's no room for him in the top nine. I expect him to be traded. Josefson is pretty solid but can't score for poo poo and has never stayed healthy. I would prefer most a fourth line of Clowe-Josefson-Ruutu. I don't like Josefson as a fourth-line center but there aren't any better centers. I would like to see Matteau up, but I guess he's next in line after injuries. Blues stream here: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/hairylikebear Down 1-0 to Dallas but they're only playing a handful of legit NHL guys. Steve Ott looks just as bad as he did last year, I'm really glad we spent money on him and not, I don't know, re-signing Jaden Schwartz.
