Also, around Estoril in 1986 it set a lap time so fast it would have started 6th in the F1 race.

The reality of F1 is that even when you've got an ungodly fast driver, they still need the car that's also either the single fastest or second fastest to rack up a big number of race wins. I don't think Senna himself was past his prime but his car in '94 wasn't exactly great either.
