the man is extremely prolific in indie film by choice. he loves good film. and he knows how to make that cheddar by doing roles such as spider-man. my guess is he just has enough money he avoids big-budget pictures unless they really appeal to him. he's a total rock star

Serious talk Martin Scorsese's had way too long a career and even at the start was making too many different kinds of films for me to ever pick a best. Maybe a best kind of film I could do, like I could maybe pick his best gangster or best rock documentary film. But best film hands down is impossible.

while Taxi Driver is definitely "A Better Film" I think wolf of wall street was really amazing - one of the funniest movies i've seen in a while, but also horrifying, plus it's the only film i can think of that takes a direct poo poo on the audience itself for being entertained by a character who is a bad human being

I came to post this. I don't think Kundun is his best, but it's definitely a great film. Comparing them is hard, but it definitely is a toss-up between Raging Bull and Goodfellas for me, especially since even the throwaway lines in Goodfellas are extremely quotable.

Agree with OP. Taxi Driver is incredibly well done and better than anything else he's done

Wolf of Wall Street was the biggest piece of poo poo I've seen in a year or two. Just overly long, uninteresting shots, etc.
