Saw this on the news last night. The talking heads said "malware in the l-eye-nix computer system could allow hackers to take over your computer! This affects all computers running the bash program and mac computers." After I finished laughing at how fear-based and uninformed the report was, and confirmed that my systems were affected, I patched my entire infrastructure (~200 machines) in about 5 minutes, thanks to Puppet. Edit: adding to the conversation This vulnerability only affects the following version of BASH: bash-4.2.45-5.el7_0.2 bash-4.1.2-15.el6_5.1 bash-4.1.2-15.el6_5.1.sjis.1 bash-4.1.2-9.el6_2.1 bash-4.1.2-15.el6_4.1 bash-3.2-33.el5.1 bash-3.2-33.el5_11.1.sjis.1 bash-3.2-24.el5_6.1 bash-3.2-32.el5_9.2 bash-3.0-27.el4.2 Fat Dallas fucked around with this message at 18:04 on Sep 25, 2014 |

alo posted:And uh... everything earlier too. Fair point... But if you're running anything earlier than v.3.0, then you have bigger problems.
