This episode wasn't good, but at least it had a plot that began in the first act and ended in the last act.

I should complain, but I feel we could have done worse with an episode that was probably pitched as "let's just do one with Homer on an old-timey boat" that got digested in their production-by-committee process.

I laughed at the tree with sails joke.

You people are so loving sad. This was a good episode of a good show. This whole "Simpsons sucks now" attitude is so loving stupid, a meme invented by people who have nothing better to do with their time than complain about good television.

I liked Marge when she existed as something other than :siren: moral outrage :siren: personified.

At least this wasn't another episode of a celebrity playing themselves, though. Honestly surprised.

The episode was solid. I liked both stories.

I don't think The Simpsons is horrible now, it's more that it's very inconsistent.

Yeah, it just seems that's all there is to her anymore. Sometimes she'd have her own little thing instead of either MORALITY or Incessant Nagging, Guilt Tripping Others. At least before somebody would poo poo on her puritan train, that was always fun.

I'm too old to bury my son!

Both this and Family Guy were a real step up from last week that I found very relieving. Plenty of laughs from me from both shows whereas last week I met Family Guy with a solid hour of expressionless disgust, I absolutely hated it and just sat there waiting for it to be over as if I was performing some kind of bizarre boredom test. Simpsons was just a big downer that failed to spark emotion, like it was trying to be sad and serious but just couldn't manage it.

This week both shows were more light hearted, and more brought from their respective roots. I'm very glad I could laugh at these shows again after only one bad week.

According to IMDB Jan Hooks only voiced her until 2002. They haven't got a credit for her appearances past then.

EDIT: Tress MacNeille has apparently voiced some of her appearances but she's also had a 3rd unknown actress.

I'm pretty disappointed that after running the uncut versions during their marathon FXX has resorted to using the syndication versions for normal airings. The cuts are bad enough it's the episodes where they increase the speed of everything by 5% or so that really drie me nuts.

They did mention they would go back to the syndicated episodes. As for the 5% speed increase, they gotta squeeze in a few more commercials and make back that billion dollar price tag.

Super Franchise Me
SABF19 - October 12, 2014 - 8/7c
Written by Bill Odenkirk

Marge's sandwiches prove popular at Springfield Elementary School, so she opens up a sandwich franchise. Things then become more challenging, especially when another outlet with the same franchise opens nearby.

The official Facebook page blatantly calls back to the one episode we're thinking of:

From the Marge who brought you Pretzel Wagon, comes her latest franchise ... this Sunday.

Looks like there are no guest stars. Yes, the writer is related to Bob.

This episode seemed like a nice throwback to seasons 15-19.

We have a plot that plays it safe, but with no major problems worth pointing out. We get to see the family work together, and we even get at least a half dozen jokes worth laughing at.

This used to be the bare minimum of what I asked for when it comes to a post-classic Simpsons episode.
