Werix would it be okay if I bought the Excessive Wealth talent for Dash? Possible IC justifications include: having access to the cult's assetts+being able to go out, socialize, and not worry about being a mutant 8 foot tall dude in power armor.

Or, as Firesight said, winning the Scratch and Smite lottery.

Due to a family medical situation, i will not be posting updates in this game for an as of yet unknown period of time, but it will last until at least the 8th of June, but might be a longer period. I will resume updating when I can.

Since most of #acolyte know anyway, my mother is dying. While I have returned home from 11 days helping my father, she could go any day now, and I want to wait until after she has passed before I start updating my games again. I plan to limit my posting to games I am a player in, as they take considerably less input than games I run.

This game is not forgotten, and I hope you all are still here to continue once I begin updating again.

Thanks all for your patience.

Just want to say bravo to goatface on his brilliant tactic to tip off the infiltrators. I'm so thoroughly impressed you can get either 3 corruption (any mutation will wait for after the party) or one infamy as reward for that ingenuity.

Want to give lordkoth and onion a bit more time to react before updating.

I'll decline the dodge, it's only like a 30% chance anyway. That being said, I'm a little miffed that rather than being told "nope, can't do either of those things you wanted" and asking what I wanted to do, Corvax was dropped basically into the worst possible position for someone of his skillset, given the terrain (like less than 24ft of balcony he could walk on to drop into the marine/stormtrooper crowd even if it took an extra turn to do so)

I'll likely spend an infamy to ignore prone (yay Slaanesh) and then 2 on wound recovery. Is initiative back at the top of the order, with the tacmarine about to go again?

I can't win. Seems almost every time I do a combat, someone isn't happy with the layout or something or other, and I get reamed at. The reason it always takes me so long to do combat posts in this game in particular is this right here. Someone always criticizes placement, or me making a decision to help things flow along, or something else. It's the fear of getting my hand slapped that causes there to be a week in between combat posts.

I retconned the post. I'm not going to edit the map, but pretend you're right on the tac marine. Put up your block and kill him in one hit then.

Give me actions for only one round. We'll do this nice and slow I guess.

I'm sorry if I came off a little... I don't know, whiny? I'm not asking to be teleported onto the dude. If I couldn't have reached him, I couldn't have reached him. I just set the conditionals like I did for a specific reason, and I maybe should have clarified the strategy on that a little more than an IC aside

EDIT: Namely that I am indeed a slowmarine with no power field, and that jumping onto him means he has to back up and give me an OA to use a heavy weapon, or that jumping into a crowd means that he at least gets a penalty to shoot me and can't suppress me without scattering them as well. And that staying up on the completely wrap-around balcony for a turn like a coward to get a better drop position is preferable to, well... getting almost one-shot by him because I landed in the open. Which is exactly what happened, heh.

My apologies. Also, wasn't trying to knock the speed of combat. As I mentioned when you asked the group a few questions a while back, you've handled the... challenging combat system of BC admirably, especially given the medium. Just wanted a quick clarification since I would have had to wait on the results of a dice roll (the 2 +wounds activations, which could have given me as much as 12 or as little as 4 back) to see what to do.

Look, I didn'd mean to come off as an rear end in a top hat earlier either. You were right, you did want to drop on him. I just didn't want a situation where I post, "and Corvax takes a turn to go around the balcony." Again, given the medium, I'm just trying to speed up combat is all, but I completely understand. Like I said, assume you were able to drop on him, and he took his turn drawing his chainsword or something.

On a slightly related note, what the hell can I throw at you all that would give you challenging combat? If the Blood Angel hadn't had the power field, Lordkoth would have instantly killed him, I have a feeling you're going to probably one shot, or nearly one shot, the tac marine, and Ronwayne's minion can handle groups like no one's business. I find it hard finding stuff to throw at you that isn't a daemon engine, which wouldn't be on this world anyway.

It is not that I view it my job to kill you, but I assume as players you want challenging combats, which I think the most challenging was the fight with the Eldar, where lordkoth died.

If you were in the Vortex it would make it easy to throw stuff at you, but here in the Imperium, it's hard to find stuff that isn't a 500 magnitude PDF regiment or something.

It's a tough situation.

1) Anything that would mildly wound (say, something with an average of 20-22 damage) a marine will usually send a human straight to criticaltown or nearby. Felling is something we have to deal with that humans don't, but most Felling stuff that Loyalists would have is pretty week.

2) The book says "crowds for marines, solos for humans" but as you mentioned, crowds are easily handled by all sorts of measures. Maybe squads of Frateris Militia too hopped up on faith to be broken/suppressed? Or penal legionnaires on Frenzon? And just a big ol' bunch of them to weather the initial blastmaster and grenade salvos without becoming anemic in the process?

3) Part of the issue is that we're an inflitration group, which means that them just happening to have things like Arc-Flagellants and Rocket Launcher Servitors around when we strike wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. Hell, if Deathwatch wasn't escorting an Inquisitor, they'd never have been at this party and it would have been even more of a slaughter.

4) Using suppression and/or fear is problematic in the PBP environment (hell, ask any D&D player how problematic being Slept is at the table), but it might be an option if we provide those "if x do y" lists for combat and just have you run it behind the scenes, like with the Eldar fight.

This is the biggest problem. Unless I drop you down on worlds in the middle of a war, or have you infiltrate a chapter home world, the heavy hitters typically ain't hanging around. Maybe that's the answer. Next stop is the Storm Warden home world.

Seriously, it's no fun fighting Loyalists if none of the fun ones around. And even then, space marines RAW in the book are barely a threat. The moment killing space marines becomes trivial is the moment that every peasant in the Imperium is given a digi-melta or something.

A world at war might actually work. Drop down and prop up a flagging insurgency or drag out an already long-running conflict. Maybe assassinate someone. *Shrug*

It's a known problem with the whole series. Higher level play in all of them turns into a game of rocket-tag with anti-tank weapons, I'm not sure there is a way to fix it without significant alterations to the core mechanics.

Forge World? All the fun toys to hand, and a whole bunch of skitarii & servitors to carry them. If you really want to dick about with chaotic monstrosities (but still want us in the Imperium) there's always the option of stopping a world falling. Maybe the world needs to stay loyalist for an ongoing plan to work, maybe our boss hates the person in charge of making it fall, maybe they just want to establish us as a known force for good and heroism so we can get access to that shrine world and paint giant magenta cocks all over the kilometre high statue of the Emperor blessing Rowboat Girlyman.

That's one possibility. You could stage a harrowing escape now, and let some of the stormtroopers live to tell the tale. Nothing says you had to kill all the responders, this was just supposed to be a show.

Or you could wait for all the inquisition folks to die. With no witnesses you can make up whatever story for your escape.

The real question is more how the attackers are going to escape. Granted combat is relatively short, only like a couple minutes have passed real time. The challenge may be escape without being followed, as opposed to punching though an arbites cordon.

First, I don't know how similar these rules are to Only War, so if someone checks and they are, you could also use an Only War book to reference.

Yes, you can shoot from the back of the car, since it is open topped. First thing to consider is range, which is currently 200 meters. Next, you consider the size modifier, so for example the Repressor is Massive, so you get a +30.

However, there are some difficulties with shooting from the back of a moving vehicle: If Ronwayne moves the vehicle it's full tactical speed, 15 meters, you get a -10 to shoot. If he moves the vehicle at twice tactical speed using the Floor it! combat action, you get a -20.

Lastly, Ronwayne can do an Evasive Manouver. If he passes then enemies trying to hit you get -10 for each DoS he scores, but ranged attacks from the vehicle suffer the same penalty.

It appears melee attacks don't really get impacted by much of this. So once you've got vehicles up along side you trying to ram you off the road, and I promise that will happen, you should be able to wack them with that daemon blade when they get up along side.

A note about open-topped, you can only be targeted with a called shot action; however any blast or spay weapons used will hit everyone in the vehicle.

If you think you have the time and space to summon a daemon.

I was thinking the scrub tier one that summons Ebon Geists and random lumps of chaos spawn and poo poo. Just draw a little circle on the floor of the car, chant a few syllables of the name of a dead god, when a confused looking glob of spirits pops through kick it over the side before it even knows what the gently caress.

My first post in the thread goes over the additional exp, corruption, and infamy that everyone has, since I don't think I've handed any out since then (other than the birthday exp). That said, I want to extend the invitation to some acolytes before I go bringing in other folks, no offence to your friend. New characters would also be able to start as advanced archetypes, since enough exp has been accumulated. I even allowed current players to convert over, but I think the only one that took me up on that at the time was lord koth.
