I guess if I was on a super tight budget I'd get one over a Kel-tec or Taurus thats for sure. Then again S&W bodyguards or Ruger LCPs are pretty drat cheap too.

I also carry a spare mag on the weak side, OWB. It helps balance my belt, and I feel better about the possibility of a mag failure if I have a spare. I've been pondering a light to carry weakside as well, but I'll probably end up with a weapon light on the VP9, instead, when I move to that as my EDC.

Whats the belt and holster also?

The LC9/Shield/P290/xDS are all a bit big for pocket carry. I mean I can and have carried my 290 in jeans with a healthy front pocket but its not exactly subtle.

While tightening my 4 month old Belt Man belt today I managed to do this

Was this the result of my own misuse and abuse like I am assuming, or was my belt defective? I shot off an email to them asking for help (I am fully prepared to pay some repair fee if they can fix it)

How were you tightening it? The instructions tell you to pull the belt towards your hip, not perpendicularly out like a ratchet strap. If you do that, you put way WAY too much stress on the belt and i could see how something could go wrong. I don't think thats how you did that, but they've had nothing but amazing customer service from what i've seen so they'll take care of you.

Thats probably what did it. I've not had this happen on any other belt before but this one broke definately because I'm an idiot.

I like my 290RS for the same reason you and Illegal Clown posted.

What I find puzzling is that the MSRP (and street price) have literally halved since I bought mine 2 years ago. They used to be $600 street price, now you can get em for under $300 online. More SIG cost cutting? (seriously though theres no reason that gun should cost $600 when Ruger can sell a LC9 for half that)

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2015/02/17/interview-bob-stasch-chicago-pd-veteran-14-gunfights/

Mas Ayoob interviews a Chicago police officer whos been in 14 gunfights in his career. This is mainly from a law enforcement perspective but this is a fascinating listen, he goes into great detail on the firearms and ammo hes used.

The part is early on in the interview. His very first gunfight involved a knife-wielding drug dealer taking 6 .45LC shots point blank to the chest, 5 .38spl point blank to the back and 4 .44 magnum shots, one of which blew out his kneecap finally incapacitating him. That man then lived another 10 days. Had very little alcohol in him (like .05%), zero drugs in his system, 5'7", 140lbs, but as he puts it "but also something not everyone has, a will to live".

That shooting took place in 1983 and he explained that as long as your service gun was a 38spl you cpuld carry practically anything as a backup. He was doing plainclothes work and carried a j frame and a model 29 (his partner a j frame and 45LC N frame)

Maybe the Smith and Wesson Bodyguard. The G42 is a tad taller and most pocket pistols of similar size to the LCP are going to be of questionable quality (Kel-tec, Taurus etc.) or have few holster options (Beretta Pico).
