Really, why are those fist fights so long? If they were a third as long it'd be bearable. But as it is you slog through half a dozen fist fights that take way too long, every goddamn chapter.

Or it may be because we don't have a way to return home after the next level and thus James Bond is consigned to living out the rest of his days in a vaccuum.

Either that or the fact that Eurocom and Activision were commissioned to make a game celebrating 50 years of James Bond and the best they could do was give us these 'hey, do you remember when this happened?' moments.

This game's like a photo album, expect all the pictures were cut and placed in a terrible order.

On that note, I have to say I really like the art direction for the levels. The levels look really nice if you just look at them as static pictures.

The gameplay and level design, on the other hand...

Is the Dynamiks supposed to be this game's Klobb? Because it certainly looks that way.

Also, tell me you get to use lasers in the next mission. I will be very disappointed if you don't.

That and you get to float in zero-gravity...however you don't get to destroy the globes and save the earth, because the game ends with a lovely 'cliff-hanger' which covertly tells you 'just go watch the film, you'll get the ending there'.

Oh and apparently Jaws's 'girlfriend' is called Dolly...who's nowhere to be seen in the mission...maybe that's a good thing.

Well, you do virtually the same thing by destroying the machinery that launches the globes in the first place.

The ending isn't even a cliffhanger, it's just a poo poo ending that doesn't reward you at all for beating either the series of levels or the game as a whole.

Well I thought they'd do something climatic like that, kind of like the last part in Everything or Nothing with the last nano-missile launching.

As for the ending, like I said, it was just an excuse to make you download the Skyfall missions and find out what happened afterwards.

Ahhh ballet
You know, the more I watch of this game, the more I think it could've worked if they'd gone the 3rd person shooter route instead. You talked about doing a Bond game in the MGS style and I agree that it would probably work much better. Specifically, if they simply ripped off the gameplay mechanics from Splinter Cell Blacklist, where you'd have the option of going in stealthy or guns blazing. That seems more in line with how Bond operates. The last 3rd person Bond was Blood Stone which played very similar to Splinter Cell: Conviction so why not continue that route? By the way, there's an excellent LP of Blood Stone on the archives if anyone wants to check it out.

Anyway, it seems like they had a really rough time working Moonraker into the Craig version of Bond since the things people generally remember from Moonraker are fairly campy and seem out of place. It could be done but damned if Eurocom put any effort into it. I'm sure the space level will have that same disconnect so I'm looking forward to that.

As soon as you mentioned the guard's eyes, I realized that none of the guards ever blink. Also, as soon as you mentioned the giant globe, I figured that it was a big glass sphere with a rotating holographic projector at the center, since that is technology that exists today.

Jaws never had any lines in the movie (not even gorilla grunting) because actor Richard Kiel couldn't speak with the huge metal teeth prop (there is one exception to this if you stick around for the very ending of the actual Moonraker movie). Also, I'm kind of disappointed that they didn't show off his ability to be able to bite anything in half with said metal teeth.

In my personal opinion, Jaws was used better in the Spy Who Loved Me. For some reason, everything he does in Moonraker seems comical and out of place, including being able to survive absolutely anything. That said, Jaws is one of my favorite Bond villains.

Speaking of The Spy Who Loved Me, that train scene was both surprising and a bit confusing. I love that scene but how the hell did he knew which room Amasova was going to be in and how did he just barely fit in that closet?

This is kind of pointless, but we've already had gunchat in this thread, so why not go into some space shuttle chat since they got the launch sequence wrong.

First off, the main engines should have been lit at launch and not just the solid rocket boosters (SRBs). That giant orange thing is a fuel tank for the shuttle's main engines, it burns through that during launch along with the long white SRBs that are beside it. (In fact, the main engine is ignited 6.6 seconds before the boosters are lit.) If you look at pictures of shuttle launches, the light coming from the main engines exhaust is hard to see past the massive plumes coming out of the SRBs, but it's there. The SRBs are detached two minutes into the flight, while the main engines continue to draw fuel from the main tank all the way through until nine minutes after launch.

If you have never seen a video of the shuttle launch, you really should. This is a video of the last Space Shuttle Endeavour launch, queued to just before they ignite the main engines. (You can start at the beginning if you want a full nine minutes of preflight checks.)

Basically: 1) The main engines should have been lit, not just the SRBs and 2) the SRBs and fuel tank should not have detached at anywhere near the same time.

Considering the badguy (I think his name was Stromberg) was a billionaire shipping magnate, it's safe to assume that he had plenty of his own spies aboard the train that probably knew Bond and Amasova's every move. Maybe. As for Jaws fitting in that tiny closet... I dunno, you're asking me to find logic in Hollywood :colbert:

I'm also willing to go with that Jaws' reputation is "being a professional assassin". Maybe Jaws' badassery is so high up there that he meticulously set the whole thing up himself.

Having watched Moonraker again the other night, it was kind of cool to see Jaws become a goodguy and help out Bond at the very end. (Spoilers marked in case Eurocom did something right)

Mission 12: Space Station

Finally, we are at the exciting conclusion to 007 Legends until the Skyfall DLC was released. Will James Bond find a way back to Earth after infiltrating Hugo's space station? Will Holly Goodhead ever change her name to something sensible? Will any of us even care once the franchise gets rebooted? Only time will tell.

For now though, I want to thank everyone for watching and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Chaos Argate will try and track down a copy to play through the DLC and I've got more bonus art to post but the main campaign is completed. I may set up a stream, or simply record, some gameplay of challenge levels.

They probably could've, but they blew the budget on M and Craig. I'd kill for some Goldfinger theme music.

Now that I think about it, it would've been so much better to keep all the original characters and just use the footage from the movies, that they have the rights to, to fill in the plot or transition between the levels.

If it wasn't an actual James Bond game I'd agree with the homage sentiment, but they had the license, (presumably) the funds and time to work on it. That and the major scenes that are being relived in this game are recreations of movies scenes.

The lack of any North Korean link is definitely strange and they are only spotted in one cutscene. They didn't even have the decency to add any North Koreans in Graves' cargo plane when he tries to blow up the DMZ minefields.

This may be slightly off-topic, but if you're in the UK, the folks at the Prince Charles Cinema are doing a 007 Retrospective, they're screening every Bond film (even the 1967 version of Casino Royale and Never Say Never Again...but no Operation Double 007 unfortunately) ever made from January to June...this is really just to get psyched for Spectre coming later this year, but if you want to watch all 25 films so far (even though you could be doing that right now with the Bond 50 Blu-ray collection, but you prefer watching them in a rep cinema because it's 'cooler'), then by all means check it out.
