the passionate several minute argument about the characterization of one of the girls, and whether she was the right kind of cute, in their seemingly terrible anime was pretty great

this is a good anime

The director just got more and more cringeworthy.

So far I'm having a bit of trouble telling all the characters apart but I'm often like that when it's just episode two, and this show has some potential.

And my (not really mine, somebody else came up with it in an old thread) dream of an animated moe rendition of Waiting for Godot comes one step closer to fruition.

Also, more Tokyo Drift action. I don't quite get why both of the two studios are using that same lady but I guess anime has freelancers of that sort?

I guess this was implied to be the next project for the second half of the show. Probably a parody of GuP/Area 88/whatever girls and military equipment series you like.

Nice Mitsubishi F-1 and F-4 Phantom.

I don't know about you, but I'm totally down for some Girls and Fighter Jet.

Also: that suuuure is 3D Studio Max. Too close to home, Shirobako! Too close!

I'm such a nerd, I had to stop the video to identify the five airplanes in the new opening.
IAI Kfir, Saab Viggen, Mitsubishi F-1, McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom, and the last one was the hardest - maybe a MiG-23? If so whoever is flying that one will die horribly.

Why such old fighters? Where are the F-22s, PAK FAs, J-20s? Hell, I'll take a late 4th gen Typhoon or Gripen.

Older fighters have a bit more character, it would probably be easier to tell them apart for the non-plane-otaku. Plus the F-1 and the Phantom have a strong Japanese connection.

Please do explain for us non-nerds.

The MiG-23 was/is a Russian interceptor that has a reputation of being very demanding to fly. The United States had a special unit where they test-flew Soviet fighters in the Nevada desert, and their smuggled-in MiG-23s crashed twice (granted, once was because of the pilot being an idiot, and a lack of spare parts and full documentation made the flying more dangerous that it would be for the Russians regardless.)

That sounds kinda interesting, what was it called?

All I know about it is from this blurb in the Winter 2014 season thread:

quote:

2/13 Comical Psychosomatic Medicine (Anime de Wakaru Shinryounaika)
Manga adaptation by Shin-Ei Animation. It's another short-form anime. A psychologist and his nurse explain mental illnesses to the audience, detailing their origins, prevalence, and treatment. The information is apparently imparted in a cheerful manner with puns, jokes, and pop culture references. An odd thing to decided to make an anime for, but at least it's not yet another fantasy harem school thing.
