Rule 11(2) posted:If no defending pieces are named, then the defender must retreat (see section 12). The attacking player then makes his attack declaration, and moves his pieces into the defense locale.

A single unit moved in (since it's the only thing that's in range using local roads).

Modified above, added independent move before corps move.
# ? Nov 29, 2014 23:42 |

That's not a legal move because the 92 -> 103 approach is not passable (you meant 93?)
# ? Nov 29, 2014 23:47 |
Whoops, yes, 93. The one the road goes through. Typo.

Allied Defence Declaration silvergoose
Action Queue: -- frankenfreak: Attack Declaration (As a reminder, it is difficult to determine if you are going to be able to feint or not before the defence declaration, because if the defender decides to retreat, you have to move in. As such, when doing attacks, please simply declare the attack threat: you don't even need to specify the unit you are going to use, since this is determined after the defence declaration).
# ? Dec 2, 2014 09:20 |
I'll follow through with Independent Command and the 2-strength cavalry.

# ? Dec 2, 2014 09:29 |

Wait a second, Vandamme can't return to 72 reserve if he feints, he would have to go to 82. Also, he would have been revealed if he attempts a road-feint, by the way.
# ? Dec 2, 2014 22:00 |
I was aware of the reveal, but misunderstood what's the attack locale for such a road move. Change of plans! Attack threat on the 72->74 approach (Vandamme Corps Move, feint, ending in 72's reserve) I'll wait and see what the Allies do before issuing further command(s) and retract my previous order for Lannes.

frankenfreak posted:What do you mean by that? According to the rules, "[t]he act of declaring pieces as defending pieces neither changes their position nor turns them face-up." Rulebook posted:11, sub 3 (Feint Option), bullet 2.
# ? Dec 5, 2014 18:34 |
That's if a feint is declared, which hasn't happened yet.
# ? Dec 5, 2014 18:36 |
On feints, at least one defending piece has to go on approach. His corps is down to 3 pieces beause one of them went on approach (as outlined above)
# ? Dec 5, 2014 18:37 |
Oh wait, that's from the previous feint.
# ? Dec 5, 2014 18:38 |

You declared a feint for the previous attack, the movement is a reaction to that.

Rules question: can the cavalry in Das Schloss attack Dokhtorov's corps? In other words, is the approach obstruction there bidirectional, or only on the way in? If they can, Attack threat on the 134-119 approach. If not, Attack threat on the 135-119 approach.
# ? Dec 8, 2014 22:32 |
Obstructions are not bidirectional. Also this, notice that it does not specify the attack approach:quote:Cavalry units cannot lead an attack, lead
# ? Dec 8, 2014 22:38 |
Okay then. Attack threat on the 134-119 approach.
