Hello, my name is Mad Rancher (Jon Joe) and I'd like to run a game called Programming Rock Paper Scissors between two players. First two to sign up get the spots. After signing up, both players will send me 9 Conditionals and 1 Default. Each Conditional should be in format of "If X then Y", such as "If my opponent threw rock last turn, throw paper this turn." The word unless is also allowed, e.g. "If my opponent threw rock last turn, throw paper this turn, unless the last time this Conditional was followed, I lost." You may not chain a then off the unless, however; an example of what you're not allowed to do would be "If my opponent threw rock last turn, throw paper this turn, unless the last time this Conditional was followed, I lost, then throw rock." The nine Conditionals must be ranked from 1 to 9, with the highest numbered Conditional being followed if multiple apply. The Default is simply "Rock", "Paper" or "Scissors" and this determines what you throw if no Conditionals apply. You can get as tricky with Conditionals as you want, e.g. "If the opponent threw rock last turn, then set X = 1 and throw paper." and "If X = 1, throw Scissors." Just make sure it's parsable by me, a human being! All variables used start at 0, and each player's set of variables are separate. Your RPS program may not use data in or about the opponent's Conditionals, such as "If the opponent did not activate a Conditional last turn, then throw Rock." In addition it may only use data from past turns (or variables) and not the current or future turns. In essence, both programs are entirely separate and do not have knowledge about one another at all. I will run 10 turns with both programs and reveal the results. Then both players will have a chance to refine their programs, replacing 1 Conditional or the Default with a new Conditional or Default. This process will be one round. There will be 10 rounds in total, each composing of the 10 turns and refinement, except the last round which will have no refinement. The player with the most turns won, wins. A player will also win if their number of wins over their opponent is greater than the number of turns remaining. Please note that all variables are reset to 0 after each round; in essence each round is a separate set of 10 turns. Also, no random variables. This is what separates this game from normal RPS.
