Agents tried asking DPR how best to liquidate the bitcoins they stole from his site

Not going to link the whole thing but pages 41-43 of the complaint relates to at least one of the silk road murder-for-hires that ulbricht has yet to be charged with

A SR admin named CG was was caught delivering cocaine and was flipped by a team including the 2 agents, Force and Bridges, charged with stealing from DPR.

On jan 25th, CG showed Bridges how to login an do vendor password and pin resets.

THAT SAME NIGHT, the Silk Road website suffered a serious of major vendor thefts. All these thefts were via ... password and pin resets.

On Jan 26th, CG continued to debrief the cops on how to to Silk Road admin stuff. Bridges left early that day and was not present.

Later that day, DPR caught wind of the thefts and contacted a major drug dealer name Nob to have CG (who was actually Bridges) killed.

Law enforcement contacted the real CG who denied the attacks. DPR knew is was the CG account because there's logs for password resets of course.

The major drug dealer Nob happened to actually be the other DEA agent, Force.

DPR paid Nob (Force) $80k to have CG (Bridges) killed.

Force then helped the real CG stage death photos.

It then goes on to establish proof that Bridges transferred out at least 20,000 bitcoins into another account that Force owned to be liquidated through his shell company.

no loving wonder they didn't go through on the murder for hire charges. they'd be asking the jury to believe a federal agent that was stealing the money for his own use

Wait wait wait.

So it's not just that Ross/DPR/Mark tried to have some murdered by hitman, but that the hitman and the victim (or someone posing as the victim) were both actually federal agents, one (or both?) of whom were stealing bitcoins on the side for their own profit?

I don't think the hookup happened, fed #2 just replied "yeah I totally know a guy, I'll call in a favor" and then helped fed #1 pretend to have been rubbed out by a hitman who never existed at all

Kinda, an admin was flipped and the fed started using his account to drain the vendor accounts at SR.

DPR contacted a high level, tough guy vendor, who was also a fed to have the admin killed and was paid.

Both feds worked together with the real admin to stage his death. Feds got paid and real admin was sent to jail.

this is described as "murder for hire #1" in this article

http://www.businessinsider.com/silk-road-boss-ordered-6-assassinations-and-owned-20-million-in-bitcoins-feds-claim-2013-11

the next section under "murder for hire #2" is also quite amusing, the dialogue with "redandwhite", which you can read in the original DPR filing, reads like a cheesy 419-style scam

dont have the link for the specific section of the filing but here's an analysis of the name choice

i wonder if they'll go ahead with the murder for hire stuff, if so a USA is going to have to explain why they should trust the federal agents in prison for extorting the guy on trial for personal profit

like if the trial goes forward and DPR is acquitted because the jury thinks "uh well the cops were actually criminals or something so I don't know if I can believe a single word said in this courtroom" after which the USA becomes a laughing stock for not being able to convict the guy with a diary detailing his crimes

I said this in the grey thread but I wasn't sure then, I'm pretty fuckin' sure now

No wonder Ross' defense team was have conniption fits trying to get the agents who investigated him onto the stand, they were blackmailing him, stealing bitcoins, extorting people, and pretending to kill each other

they probably could have gotten an acquittal out of this ridiculous bullshit

maybe not but if he was able to get it admitted at trial that the cops were blackmailing him for something silk road-related that would likely throw off the jury enough to acquit him

Yeah, and he's obviously guilty, but if you get those morons on the stand and get to wave them turning into ridiculous criminals around you get to cast enough doubt on the entire investigation to probably make a jury vote not guilty

who cares

you present all this to a jury about what the agents were up to while investigating dpr and you've got a good shot at an aquittal from a jury who no longer believes a word the government says, maybe they accept the conclusion the rogue agents planted it all

at the end of the day all of the evidence passed through the government's hands so if you can convince people the fbi is corrupt as all hell suddenly a conviction becomes a lot harder even with mycrimes.txt as verified by the agent that caught these two nimrods

That's much better phrased than I put it

Honestly I don't know how they go through with the murder-for-hire charges now, especially since it looks like the whole thing was kicked off by federal agents committing actual crimes and Ross basically contracted one federal agent to target another one, the government does not look good here

The defense could have called the agents, but they were trying to get certain testimony in under cross examination. The judge ruled that the defense line of questioning was beyond the scope of direct, but they could have called them as part of their case if they wanted. There are many reasons they did not want to do this though.
