A new small restaurant opened up in my small city. This restaurant is incredibly successful (due to word of mouth) and it's very hip, with mid-20s employees and owners. They also use an iPad app as their register. Upon seeing this, I was excited. I asked if I could pay in Bitcoin especially considering everything they needed was already on their counter. But they caught me off guard, because after asking, they (2 register girls, 2 cooks/potential owners) burst out laughing and one cook started ridiculing Bitcoin out loud for about 10 minutes in a tight space with about 25 customers in earshot. Scam, not safe, dangerous, the usual mainstream opinion but amplified by the guy that considered himself a tech-nerd (his words). I wasn't going to turn it into an argument so I paid with debit and waited for my food.

I encounter nothing but very annoying experiences when asking businesses about Bitcoin payment methods. For anyone else trying to pay with Bitcoin, are you being welcomed with similar nonsense?
