Canadian Bitcoin Exchange CAVirtex Faces Class Action Lawsuit
http://bitcoinschannel.com/canadian-bitcoin-exchange-cavirtex-faces-class-action-lawsuit/

CAVirtex, Canada’s largest and oldest Bitcoin online exchange, is facing a potential class action lawsuit to the tune of $884,880 CAD. The alleged losses were incurred by the lawsuit-bringers after the company offered 10% of its shares for sale on the cryptocurrency-based asset exchange, Havelock Investments then stopped listing the stock by the end of 2013.

A total of 10,000 shares were sold on March 23, 2013 and continued to be traded until the end of 2013. At that time, CAVirtex announced that they would no longer be listing stock from Havelock and that they would offer to buy back their shares at an “adjusted exit price” of $30 CAD a share. At the time of the announcement, the stock was trading around $120 CAD a share.

Not only was the exit price unfair but the process for selling the shares was made complex, and many investors were left stock and as a result of this became permanent shareholders in CAVirtex. The class-action lawsuit against CAVirtex is based on the market cap at the time of the incident and takes into account the adjusted exit price offered. Those who feel they have been wronged by CAVirtex have until November 1st to submit a claim by contacting [email protected] with your name, phone number, number of shares you held, and any other relevant information. After November 1st, more details will be revealed; including, the name of the firm behind this.

This is the second time CaVirtex has been in the news this month. On October 6th, they disabled Bitcoin withdraws citing an increase in volume that lead their “hot wallet running dry.” The likelihood of CAVirtex’s actions being related to recent SEC actions increases as more news comes to light.

The big exchanges, especially CoinBase, are sending your personal financial information straight to the IRS, FinCEN, FinTRAC and other revenue and anti-money laundering agencies. The government is almost certainly compiling a database of people who own Bitcoin. Think we're paranoid? Remember what happened during World War II? Gold became illegal and the government forcibly seized privately-held stores of gold. Bitcoin represents a greater threat to the fiat money system than gold ever did, so the same confiscation order could eventually be issued by the Treasury. And if you use a big exchange, the government almost certainly knows how much Bitcoin you've purchased. If you fail to declare it on your income tax return, you may have a nasty surprise coming one day.

It seems it would be an easy way for someone to be compensated for dishing out dirt without being traced. Now... some say bitcoin can be traced, but if I create a paper wallet and the law enforcement sends money to that address for a tip off, it will not be traceable by a typical thug. However, if that thug had someone on "the inside" they probably could find out who ratted if compensation was cash based. Any thoughts? The police could then issue statements such as "Man beaten on 7th ave 3am outside of Jack's Brewhouse, any information leading to the attackers arrest receives 5 Bitcoin to your address of choice.

How can a particle be sure of what a nearby particle is doing? How can I know for sure that this is the position that I will inhabit, if it's very actions will determine and be determined by those of a million particles around it, *who are equally unsure of what state they are in*?

The answer is the blockchain.

This blockchain however is a little different than the one you and I use to record bitcoin transactions. Instead, this is a fourth dimensional blockchain (let's call it a spacechain) that slowly builds itself as it winds across a temporal space. It becomes a little more complicated when you incorporate relativity: different parts of the 'spacechain' are growing at different rates due to individuals travelling through time at different speeds, but the idea is the same.

When a particle is trying to decide what position to take, it assesses the condition of particle around it, and tries to solve for a solution that fits the current 'quantum hash' . I'll refer to a local quantum hash as the current formula which defines all mathematical possibilities for a particle. However, those possibilities change like the tides of an ocean as other particles change around it. It's only when other particles force a particular particle to choose a state that a 'solution' is found in the space chain. The space chain then grows according to the information that is added to it by these interactions.

All particles in the universe are simultaneously trying to solve for each other in a sort of frenzied, quantum game-theory way. Whenever there is a disagreement about which state a particular set of particles should take, just like the block chain, it is brute force which determines the outcome. It's interesting, and what we haven't realized yet, is that concepts such a 51% attack are also possible on the space chain, though impractical with today's technology.

It's also important that we keep in mind that though our consciousness lends us to believe that we are observers in this space chain, we are actually part of it, which handcuffs us in some ways but it is also quite extraordinary.

Essentially, when the block chain of bitcoin grows large enough, and with a few additional tweaks, a new type of artificial intelligence will emerge. We are the end result proof of that inevitability. When the space chain was let grow large enough and after enough interactions, the space chain began to observe itself and begin to consider how to best change itself.

If this occurred in the blockchain, we would be surely frightened. Imagine that the entire universe is a digital crypto currency for a higher intelligence, and suddenly it wants to reorganize itself according to... Itself.

A rogue chunk like this could quickly corrupt the rest of the bulk if left unchecked, just as we would fret if (in a world that uses bitcoin as a primary store of value) the block chain suddenly decided to reorganize itself from within.

The future is a strange and scary place.
