Daniel Bryan posted:Ah hah, and that's only the 18-49 audience, which last week was only 8,000. This is a tripling of the audience. what would have caused that, better advertising? word-of-mouth?

El Estrago Bonito posted:Yeah LU is basically how everyone on the internet has been saying you could run a successful minor promotion for years now. It's basically removed all the parts of a wrestling company that have huge overhead for little return and I think the real final block they can put into place would be to get decent online video distribution (through places like Hulu or even just DVD on demand services) and maybe to run one every sixth month/quarterly PPV show if they can get the resources for it (or just get Vampiro/Matt to do commentary for a AAA show that shares some percentage of the same cast). the "watch online" link on El Rey's website for LU is listed as "Coming Soon" so it's probably at least in the works.

Here's a better idea: Never hire Vince Russo in any capacity for your wrestling promotion

Speaking of Big Dave, he posted that the second season is still not official but is definitely expected to be announced any day now, which is good.

Angular Landbury posted:Court Bauer on MLW just teased something that is "going to change the landscape" for LU and will vastly improve their financing. May be bullshit but he works directly with Konnan and knows a lot of the people behind LU, so it seems likely. They've hired the architect of the Attitude Era boom, Vince Russo.

EugeneJ posted:Did Meltzer rate Mundo-Puma He didn't, but this is the writeup if you were wondering. quote:Notes from the 6/17 show. This was the “All Night Long” match with Prince Puma defending the title against Johnny Mundo in Dario Cueto’s big invention, the All Night Long match. At least with Aztec Warfare, they tweaked the Royal Rumble, but this was an Iron Man match that took the entire TV show. They did about 39:24 of wrestling time in the match, with most falls. There was something missing in the match. The idea of Puma being down 4-1 and coming back to win 5-4 with his final pin coming with his big move with 11 seconds left should have been great on paper. But with all the stalling and delays and long set up of spots, it felt more like a stunt show building to high spots than a title match, and that isn’t good when you go so long. The match got big “Holy poo poo” style pops, but there was no intensity at all to the match or in the crowd. They were more just sitting there waiting for the big spots. They did a lot of cool stuff, but comparing this to recent long matches like Kushida vs. Kyle O’Reilly and Jay Lethal vs. Jay Briscoe and I don’t think this came close. As a concept, breaking from the usual formula and doing a long match that takes up the whole show to me is a good idea that I’d like to see people try more often. It creates more memorable shows when you break the pattern and this will be remembered more than most weekly shows. They pushed that the winner would defend the title against Drago at Ultima Lucha, but in actuality, Drago loses that shot to Mil Muertes first. Mundo went for a dive early but Puma moved, and Mundo landed on his feet, and then Puma hit him with twisting dive. Puma took the first fall in 5:37 with a front rolling cradle.
