Pillbug
John Murdoch mentioned the Scissors and it reminded me of a recent Apollyon run I did. During the run, I voided the Pinking Shears. Then a little while later, I saw the Scissors. When I saw that, I had to know: What happens if you have no head and no body?

So I voided the Scissors, and now whenever I used the Void, my character's head and body would both split off. You're stuck controlling just the character's shadow, but it doesn't affect your hitbox or anything like that. It was very awkward to use, but kinda funny to be reduced to just a little round shadow.

Not really related to the current discussion, but I thought it was interesting.

Isaac's Heart is the Worst.

I've been grinding Ultra Hard challenge for the last few sessions and I had an amazing run.. until it wasn't. On the very first floor I got Diploplia and used it for a double Abbadon devil deal, as well as Magic Mush and other good stuff.. until I got Dr Fetus. My range and shot speed were very high and that makes the bombs so very hard to control properly. I eventually died to my own bombs.

I know about its crazy synergies, still hate it. There are so many other ways to break the game that arent such a drag to actually play.

I lost a pretty good Eden streak when I began with Isaac's Heart, a single red heart for health, less than 1 speed, and 15 tears rof. I slogged though to the 3rd floor somehow, getting basically no stat upgrades and then dying.

People were talking about "no win" seed, and that's probably my clearest example I've encountered. I suppose if you replayed it a bunch, but meh... and I didn't keep the seed :/

what horror the gas

All this talk about BoI has hyped me up to play the last expac but I'm also tempted to install as many mods as I can and see what horrid chaos I can unleash. Anyone know how well the game handles having 100+ steam workshop mods thrown at it simultaneously?

Speaking of mods, I've never modded BoI before and I wanted to try some of them before Repentance releases, so last night I tried installing the classic music mod and Antibirth, but for some reason I can't get either one to work when I actually boot the game? The Mods menu is completely blank.

I'm guessing maybe they're only compatible with vanilla Rebirth, or just Afterbirth, or I am a dumb dumb who can't figure it out. I tried searching online but I'm not getting the results I need. Anyone have a basic guide to doing this for an idiot like me?

Yeah that's really hosed up to be honest. I thought it was a fine game, just short on content.

Also I can't help but expect them to blow this release date, considering how much this game has been pushed back already.

Man I was expecting The Forgotten to be difficult but not as bad as The Keeper or The Lost but jeeze this game really wasn't built with melee in mind. That was probably the easiest post-it to fill out of any character. What a great way to finish it off. On top of that during my Lamb run I nabbed the D100 and abused the hell out of it to get the Platinum God achievement as well. Now I only have seven left to hit 1,000,000%:

Baby-Bender : lol why would I ever get this unless I knew it was an achievement?!
ZIP! : This one is gonna be tough
The Real Platinum God : I still need to run into Godhead in the wild. This one may take a while
1001% : Basically need to nab the various Forgotten items that I just unlocked. Should be natural as a result of getting the others
It's the key : This one is going to be a real bastard. I'm thinking Azazel may be my best bet here as the flying will help me dodge pickups
Dedication : Still working on this one. Shouldn't be many left
Marbles : I think abusing Greed mode will probably be the easiest route for this

Wish me luck, goons

Thats the "no hearts, bombs or coins" one, right? Yeah, its an absolute stone cold bastard. Azazel or The Lost is pretty much mandatory as you need flight to help you avoid pick-ups, but even then you will get situations where an otherwise promising run is screwed up because a coin blocks a door. It was one of the last ones I did for 1000000%. Its worth remembering that its only no picking up those things, you can still take items that directly give you hearts, bombs and coins. So if you can lay hands on for example The Satanic Bible or similar it is INVALUABLE, or even something like Pyro giving you 99 bombs is fine. (EDIT TO ADD: Picking up soul hearts as The Lost still screws you for the achievement by the way, even though he gets no benefit for them, I used azazel myself, but other people do like the lost for it, just remember that although red hearts bounce of him, soul hearts dont)

I'm told that if you are on PC the seed G0NES00N (those are zeros, not the letter O) doesnt disable the achievement but I cant guarantee that, it does disable it on the PS4 which is what I play on, so I couldnt use it. (It makes pickups dissapear after a few seconds so prevents things blocking doors).

And remember you are going for The Lamb, dont pick up the polaroid.

Marbles and RPG should come naturally in time, but abusing greed mode will definitely speed the process up. I abused the D6 until godhead showed up (in the Treasure room, not the shop!) myself, though I've seen it a few times in regular runs since.

When I was finishing up my second and third files I noticed the ones I always missed were die 100 times, play the shell beggar 100 times, and kill yourself with ipecac/bob items.

Does anyone ever actually play the shell beggar or slot machines? They were good in the pre-wrath flash version but I feel like they've mainly been bomb fodder for years. The main use case that comes to mind is if you really need a key/bomb before leaving a floor and have a lot of coins, but I feel like the stars rarely line up for me and even when they do they usually don't pay out what I'm looking for. I guess skatole is worth going for if you've already got two fly items.

If you have 99 coins in the womb, why not? I find the slot machines more useful than the shell beggar though, because usually what I'm looking for at that point is a orbital flies. But there have been times when I've got a lot of coins (or a way of generating effectively infinite money) and comparatively few bombs and keys and I might as well keep hitting the beggar until thats reversed (or he blows himself up).

It feels like a huge waste of time. Going from 5 bombs to 15 bombs will probably have 0 impact on my chances of victory so I'm not going to spend several minutes doing it. If I have a big stack of coins in the womb I'll probably just keep them in case I run into silver dollar, or money is power, or a beggar etc.

But going from 5 to 15 keys if you are headed into The Chest is a bunch more items, and going from 0 to 5 bombs means 4 more secret/super secret rooms, as opposed to holding onto money on the off chance you get money is power (Silver Dollar is of very limited use if you are already in The Womb, and a beggar in my experience rarely needs more than 20 coins to drop an item and gently caress off). Plus I'd rather take fly orbitals into the final boss than any amount of money (also pills sometimes drop. Machines are much better than shell beggars.)

Plus if you have 99 coins and drop 50 of them on gambling (which would be a lot without the machines breaking/shell beggar dropping a troll bomb on themselves, but maybe there was a casino with 3 machines and a shell beggar) theres a decent chance you'll manage to max out your coins again by the final level anyway as stuff still drops coins and theres not much to spend them on. Particularly if you bomb the machines when you have gambled enough. And at the other end of the scale, if I only have 6 coins in the womb I might as well gamble, 6 coins isnt useful for anything much anyway. I mean, dont do it if you dont want to, I dont always do it myself, but you did ask why anyone would.

I was citing the remote possibility of finding silver dollar/money is power as reasons to hold on to the money mainly to demonstrate just how little I value the resources gained from gambling. I disagree that silver dollar is of very limited use in the womb though. I'd say it's a top minus 1 tier trinket if you find it on womb 1 and obviously totally useless if you find it on womb 2.

You could say if you have 6 coins you might as well gamble them... but you also might as well not gamble them because it's quicker and the chance of getting anything that effects the outcome of the run from gambling 6 coins is extremely low. The chance when gambling 50 times is higher (but still very low), but then you're blowing several minutes sitting in the arcade.

Now on to a little QA section!

Q: how much will Repentance be?
A: $14.99

Q: is it stand alone or will i need isaac to play it?
A: you will need Rebirth, Afterbirth and Afterbirth + to play repentance.

Q: will Repentance fix/change/update X Y Z?
A: Repentance has so many balance changes, visual and gameplay updates and fixes its impossible to keep track anymore.

Q: is the features list on the steam page actually true or are you hiding content from us?
A: of course we are hiding content.. we still go back and forth on spoiling stuff via feature page updates or just leaving stuff for you to find then updating it after launch.

Q: will it come to Mac?
A: No.

Q: will it come to console X Y Z?
A: Yes, the goal is to have it launch on more than one console by the end of the year, probably a lot sooner than the end but lets just say the end so we can beat expiations!

Q: will you do booster packs again?
A: I'm gunna publicly confirm that there will be NO booster packs for repentance because last time we did that it felt terrible when we packed in content to each booster and people complained that we didn't just release smaller boosters every month.. that said im sure there will be bug fix updates and content balance updates post launch.
