He couldn't remember the name of the film, and neither of us could remember the full text of the ad and were apparently too drunk to figure out what combination of words to use to google it, so I never did find out what it was called. Turns out its called Safety Not Guaranteed and it looks like it might actually be a pretty good movie. So thank you I really liked it. It's kind of awkward throughout most of it but it's definitely a good movie.
