I don't remember if this was posted here already, but Provodnikov is fighting Jose Luis Castillo in Moscow.

Yes, THAT JLC. He's now almost 41 and was KO'd by Hatton in 2007.

That fight is every bit the joke that Garcia/Salka was. They said they offered a couple of different guys 500k to come to Russia for the fight, but were turned down. I don't buy that. (Provodnikov can be scary, but he just lost to Chris Algieri for gently caress's sake)

What's this thread's opinion on Wilder anyway? Like his chances if he gets a fight with Wlad next year. I've never seen him fight.

I think he's good but it's hard to tell with a guy like him. He hasn't gone rounds with anybody so there's the big question mark of whether he can actually win a fight without knocking his opponents out. Very little adversity in his career so far, and a lot of people were wary of how his team seemed to be taking his development really slowly. It's impossible to say how he'd do against Wlad because most of Wlad's opponents end up stinking against him even if they've looked great previously. He does have power and at least some boxing skill, and he's a big guy, so he could always pull the victory off. I think his chances are as good as Tyson Fury's for example. We'll know more once he fights Stiverne though.

AFAIK it was always going to be an off-HBO fight in Russia. Probably not a ton of guys looking to go overseas and fight in Provo's backyard for little exposure and a high chance of robbery, even if the money was right. Guy like Castillo has nothing to lose, career-wise if not health-wise.

4:45 Est live. Replay at midnight.

ESIT: Fwiw, isn't a lot what people are saying makes Pulev competitive (highly skilled, heavy hands) the same things said about Povetkin? And looked how that turned out though the physical disadvantages were much more in that case.

So is this the right forum to talk about Brandon Marshall challenging a fan to a fight? :v:

They just need to make this seem interesting, I think. The only person who's going to beat Wlad is Shannon Briggs and it will involve a boat.

pulev isn't heavy handed really. he is better than povetkin tho but will probably still get hugged to death then taken out

Well if neither of them have trained in boxing I'd advise the twitter troll who I assume is short and heavy to rush inside of Marshall's reach and try to pound him to the body. Do this as much as possible and then die of exhaustion at the end of the first round or halfway into the second and earn yourself 25k.

If Brandon actually has a history of some sort in the sport take a dive.
