Do any goons in this thread/clan play OSRS, or is it mostly the new one? I've been hesitant to touch RS3 because I don't really like games that have microtransactions.
In any case, joined as DWAR#3392.

There's a few of us. I've never seen much of a presence in the cc but if you have any questions feel free to ask in the discord.

We've been seeing an influx in people joining the Discord (lots of people playing RS3 and OSRS!), so please note you may have to wait a bit to be given permissions to read/post - there were some child porn spam bots that were going around so this is a measure to try and protect against that.

I tried Old School Runescape and boy howdy what a dog! The interface felt ancient and 100x more tedious than RS3. I can only assume that people prefer it for nostalgia reasons?

Most people that play OSRS seem to favor using RuneLite (third party client, open source) to help gloss over the dated interfaces/add functionality. Nostalgia was a big part of it when the OSRS servers launched, but now they've spun off a bunch of bosses/quests/zones that are different from the main RuneScape / RS3.

I'm still waiting for OSOSRS servers to bring the real grind back to the game. :corsair:

Oh cool I will give that client a chance! I wanted to like OSRS because the Grand Exchange seems to be a lot more robust. The cost of one of those subscription baubles is like 3x the price in RS3 as it is in OSRS.

It doesn't help that OSRS had a hard reset and all my progress was carried forward into RS3.

Also RS3 has a dress-up system so it wins by default.

i never touched this game once in my life, i was always a maplestory free MMO kid in 05 instead of runescape, but im insanely bored and feel like making numbers go up. is this a fun game or should i look elsewhere for Big Numbers Up Fast action

It's good to get that number go up itch going, and the quest design is actually pretty good (generally). Can always just play on a free world for a while before deciding to invest real money.

I literally describe it as a glorified clicker only moderately jokingly so if you're looking for those sweet small numbers getting bigger it's very good

It also has other stuff to do when you're looking for something substantive, check it out, clan info is in the OP if you do.

I would definitely recommend it, its quick and easy to download and free to try. So no harm in having a look to see if you like it.

A few people have been asking how to flip, so here's a rough guide on how to flip high volume items.

What should I look for in a flip item?
Items with a high buy limit. I'd categorise this as anywhere between 100-25k / 4 hours as this gives you a lot of room to work with.
Items with high demand. There's no point trying to flip something nobody wants to buy. It won't sell.
Items with low volatility. This can vary with bonus xp weekends and new updates so be careful and start out with items you understand well.

How do I actually flip?
Buy low sell high.

What does that actually mean?
Every item has a gap between what it will instantly buy for, and what it will instantly sell for. These are commonly referred to as the INB and INS. This is the price that other players will be instantly selling to you or instantly buying from you with your flip.

Finding the INB/INS
To find the INB/INS you can either guess or check.

How to Check for the INB/INS
The INB
To check you put in an offer for one of an item for a pretty high price (e.g. 100k for a 10k item). If it buys instantly, the price you've paid for it has given you the instant sell.
The INS
Take the one item you've just bought and dump it in at 1gp. The price it sells for is your INB.

The Flip

The Buy
Now you want to buy your items that you'll flip. Put in an offer for your items at the INS just below your GE quantity limit. You want to do below the limit as this will give you room should you need to re-find the INB/INS if it changes. You've also just used one of your limit checking the INB/INS too, so be careful.
The Sell
Once your items buy, turn around and put them in at the INB price. When it comes time to sell it's worth checking the INB once more after you've bought your flip quantity as prices do change, so it's important to keep it current.

Once your items have bought, put them for sale at the INB price.

End result = Profit??

The Third Age Iron in the example below has a limit of 1,000 and it is in high demand with the release of archaeology so it moves quite quickly. It does have some volatility but will usually flip quick enough to mitigate this. This flip took around 10 minutes from finding prices to selling.

The prayer switching is relatively forgiving which isn't saying much for people who haven't really hosed with prayer switching at all before. That being said as long as you don't get into melee distance you only have to pray against ranged and mage.

Also Alt+1 toolkit has a Jad Simulator plugin built into it so if you want to practice first there's always that option, too.

ChaseSP

Doing melee against Jad just makes it so you have another prayer to toggle on and off inbetween his other stuff.

Araxxor

My disdain for you all knows no bounds.
Melee Jad is absolutely miserable and a good way to end your fight cave run right then and there. Don't do it.

Also you better get good at prayer flicking, because if you want to tackle the sequel, the Fight Kilns, you have to fight multiple Jads. There's one part where you have to fight 2 at once!

Ibblebibble
Nov 12, 2013

I have a feeling that prayer flicking is also kicking my rear end because I haven't keybound my prayers and my inventory and prays are on the other sides of the screens from each other.

How does two Jads at once work, do they at least do the same type of attack at once?

...

They definitely don't, do they.

They don't, but you get invincibility crystals on the way to double Jad and there's a rock in the middle of the room that can trap one of them, so it cannot attack you

I hope this person is trolling, nobody can be so unfunny and dumb
I found jad a bit difficult to manage with the healers, etc. in OSRS until I just splashed some cash on a BP, archers ring (i), and some rune darts. You can sort of semi-ignore some healer mechanics and focus on the prayer swap if you can just dps like mad.

The Completionist Cape. It's customizeable, and comes with an override, so I can wear the cape, without actually wearing the cape.
