I thought that candidates and their related PACs cannot be actually connected. In other words, why would Christie or Walker announce the creation of a PAC if they are not supposed to know what the PAC is doing?

I am guessing that this was decided last week when Bush and Romney met up. They probably hashed out what donors where with which person and how they would compare. Romney has to realize that both he and Bush are going after the same sub group of Republicans. Now, Romney can sell off his influence (and donors) to the highest bidder. I am guessing that Romney will meet with Christie and other candidates in the coming weeks. I initially thought VP push but I now I think he would see that as beneath him. He could be looking for a prominent role though in an upcoming administration.

Mitt Romney posted:Anyone else think that if Clinton wins the primary that the most popular GOP ad for the entire general will be the "took fire while landing in Bosnia video... transitions to footage of her landing and being greeted by children"? Already started. This morning on Fox and Friends, they were talking about Brian Williams' suspension. They immediately turned it from him lying to Hillary lying about the landing. They ended the segment with, "They both lied and I do not know which one is worse....but only one of them is running for President." Edit: They also had people comment on Twitter and one of the comments (about Hillary lying) included "What does it matter now?"

How long will it take before Perry, to show his true Conservative Principals (tm), attacks Jeb for being Governor of Florida instead of The True Bastion of Conservative, Texas? Edit: Isn't Graham a senior Senator that holds sway over the rest of the Republicans? Can't he do this himself?

This is how Donald Trump will pocket the cash. He will sell these books and make money from their sales. Or he can have a Super PAC, which he totally has not leadership connection with, purchase as many books as possible and give them away at campaign stops. Thus Super PAC money goes into Trump's pockets.

Ted Cruz is about to have his book come out, correct? I thought that most candidates THOUGHT about running while hawking their books and wears. Does this change anything since he is officially running now? If not, then he just found out a way to pump up his book sales even more.

My favorite items on Dr. Paul's store (which my computer gave me a security warning when I clicked on the page) are the: Rand Paul Flip Flops (which could be useful later on) "NSA Spy Cam Blocker" It is literally a little rectangle you can cover your webcam with to stop the NSA from spying on you. The rectangle says RAND on it.

With the weird ability to have cross over appeal and after reading his almost centrist "entitlement reform", could Christie decide to switch to the Democratic party for the nomination? Have deadlines passed that would stop him (FEC)? Sadly enough, I honestly think that Christie would have a better shot winning the nomination against by leaving the circus of the RNC behind. He would also probably be the best contender to take on Hillary (name recognition and a party switch could open him up to "changing his viewpoint")

Well, 25 minutes later and I finished my 2nd political survey (the last one took a minute). This called ranged from favorability (how the hell do you spell that word?) of candidates (Hillary and Obama to all the major Republican candidates to McConnell and Boehner and Orin Hatch). It then started with policy positions before swerving to "What is the first thing you think of when you hear the name Jeb Bush?" And then going right back to policy positions. Common core and immigration had positive wording to them and there was a focus on "improving" the business climate of the U.S. So it was definitely Bush based. No talk of women's rights (short one question on abortion) and nothing on climate change. The wording was so horrible and loaded that one question with only two lovely options led me to telling the caller "neither".

Got into it with a high school acquaintance on Facebook about Hillary. He said she deserved being arrested for treason (giving Russians uranium). After arguing about Super PACs (liberal donors bad, conservative Super PACs good, I am authoritarian for wanting to end all PACs) he then ended by saying how the article I shared about it was bad because it was a false equivalency by saying conservatives do the same thing. Do people not realize that all candidates will be taking big money interests donations (even Bernie since he cannot control Super PACs)? Also, do most people realize that CGI is a charity and cannot actively get involved with politics?

Kasich is on Fox News this morning. He is taking a very moderate tone on Baltimore and talking about improving education systems in impoverished areas (the worst thing he said was that he supports vouchers and charter schools). Does he realize that this will not get him through the primary or is he just jockeying for the VP position as a balance?

Because they are no chance candidates that have not actually put money into a proper organization. Huckabee is at least wasting his BIBLICAL CANCER CURE money wisely by being the last one of the week to announce...he hopes.

Anecdotally, out of all of my college room mates and class mates that I discussed it with, I was the only person who opposed the Iraq War from the build up. It was extremely frustrating because it was a lot of "we have to attack them before they attack us" lines. Hipster voice: I was against the Iraq War before everyone else started being against it.

The episode hypothetically deals with MLK Jr being in a coma instead of dying. He comes out of the coma in the 2000s. He begins his work again and has Not-Bill O'Reilly ask him why he hates America and why he is a socialist. He then starts pushing a political platform but his rally turns into a house party. He calls all the people Niggers for becoming exactly what society wants them to be so it is easier to keep them down. The people turn on him and he says "Screw this, I am moving to Canada." After episodes of Black Jesus and Snitching, it is one of my favorite episodes. I use the premise (if MLK was still alive today) in my modern history class.

I wonder if this causes a major rift in candidates. Candidates like Cruz and Carson could have used the straw poll to help bolster their chances and now those chances have been taken from them. Also, how much money has been spent by candidates in Iowa that is now wasted? Doesn't this make Iowa even less important than it ever should have been?
|
|
# ¿ Jun 12, 2015 16:25 |
Okay, I thought that they were connected. How much time is between the straw poll and the caucus? If there is a lot of time between them, then that is money and campaigning time that could have been spent elsewhere.

Trump is in this for as long as he can go. Most people thought he would drop out right before the Apprentice but now he has lost that and cannot even take his show to a new network(while NBC will replace him and try to "trump" up the show to boost ratings). He is going to blow through these debates like a hurricane, destroy whatever he can and then use the publicity to shop a new show to Fox News or Fox Business.

Let the RNC drop him from debates. Let him cry about the man keeping him and Americans out of the political process. Let him start the Donald Trump American Party (DTAP) and run independent.
