Just finished the first episode.

The only things that bothered me really were people calling him Tyrion rather than The Imp, Margaery's handmaidens referring to people like Bronn as if they know who the gently caress that is, Margaery's scaly arms and tits and Tyrion sitting in on Cersei's audiences, which I don't think he ever did after ACOK.

As far as the new story content went, I thought they did a fine job. The comparison between the Forresters and the Starks is pretty clear, but it's not terrible or anything. They felt like a pretty believable 'House not appearing in this series' sort of thing. Maybe we'll get a series about House Beesbury next...

Oh and Telltale seriously needs to invest in a new engine or something. After four incredibly successful series in a row they must have some cash lying around. The jank gets jankier every time, and the edges of the characters look like blurry messes. Like they attempted to make the anti-aliasing look like a brushstroke effect.

E: Was just watching my brother playing Tales of Borderlands and that game looks a thousand times nicer on max settings. Get your priorities straight Telltale! Stop sniffing that sweet sweet Gearbox coke.

I'm not convinced that Ethan is actually dead...he hung on for a good long while after getting stabbed, and there's a complete lack of him in the NEP. I would think they'd show his funeral or burial or something...He could possibly recover, maybe popping back up in Episode 4 or 5 as a gamechanger.

Are you... unfamiliar with this world?

The angle of the strike looked like it went right up into his little skull, too. Boy's dead.

Yeah with Telltale games you don't ever really change the story in a major way. You mostly change the context of the events and characterization.

I wouldn't go as far as lazy cash in though. They do good work (even though Jurassic Park was proper poo poo).

Not the place for it I know, but having played this, the walking dead series, and tales from the borderlands, I'm curious about the Sam & Max series they've had going. Should I go straight for Devil's Playhouse, or would checking out the preceding seasons be a good idea to do first? I'm not super into Sam & Max but if there's any humor like in Tales from the Borderlands I'm on that like flies on poo poo.

If you don't have to pay much for them, check out the first two seasons first for sure. They're good little puzzle games.

If they cost anything more than a couple of quid go straight to Devils Playhouse. You don't really lose anything except some in-jokes and it's far closer to the style of their later games. Do bear in mind that all three are far more gameplay and puzzle heavy and less narrative than anything they've done since then.

EDIT: I'm also not sure how closely the comedy lines up with Borderlands either. They're both wacky batshit shenanigans, but Sam & Max certainly has a drier style.

I love that they made the Osha/Asha/Yara thing just a little bit sillier but naming a character Asher.

I'm really starting to enjoy Mira's story. I've started playing her like a young Cersei: selfish and stupid, but thinks she's a cunning genius. I'm amazed that only 8% of people chose to run from Damien.

Talia's song at the end was just loving awful. Ear splittingly bad and some of the worst lyrics imaginable.

Overall episode 2 was quite a bit better than the first. The dialogue improved dramatically (nothing as out of place as northern commoners calling Tyrion by his name) and I'm really liking the Quantic Dream-esque flitting between scenes. It means I never get sick of the character I'm on and decide to take a break, which usually happens two or three times with Telltale episodes.

Asher's story is a bit disappointing so far though. Didn't really give a gently caress about playing him.

And who in the gently caress is Frostfingers? Couldn't they have found a canonical character to fill that role? Thorne was at the wall around this time in the show's canon, he could have done it.
