I've been watching youtube clips of this since it all began, treating it as a pseudo TV miniseries with a CYOA flair of others choosing for me, and my loving god am I glad that's all I treated it as and didn't pay a penny for this poo poo. And I say this as a big fan of both seasons of Telltale's Walking Dead. Because at least over there, its Season 2 had some logic behind being so railroaded (you're ultimately playing as a child and that definitely means limits when it comes to things like strength and just the chaos of the world). To make it clear, I have no problem with grimdark. I have no problem with the uttermost depths of hell suffer porn whatsoever, hell Ramsay was my longtime favorite before the last season of the show started putting wayyy too much plot armor onto him for my tastes... ...but this is complete and utter bullshit. From what I can gather, it doesn't matter what you do because Ironrath always burns, more of your family always die with (not a problem) and with no satisfying actual resolution for their deaths (BIG loving problem). Mira's choices are useless in the end (gently caress throwing the dagger away and saving that contract, to make that dude think twice about threatening you in the end) and it's all just one big test of how far you're willing to compromise your ideals while dancing in King's Landing, and if you're willing to choose death or imprisoned making babies for a treacherous bastard. But hell, at least that bastard's capable! On the other hand you have at least one Whitehill always surviving to burn Ironrath to the ground, either kidnap Roderick's bethroed so she can forcefully make babies for either Ludd or his incompetent son... ...but you know what? I think I could even stand all of that - these are the two killing blows for me: a) We've already loving seen all this happen in a show called Game of Thrones! It is utterly and completely unoriginal to go through these exact motions again! So why make a videogame, where you're supposed to have nothing but false choices of 'Well, maybe if Ironrath isn't as honorable as the Starks, you can yet avoid their fate'...and in the end the developers fart in your face and go: "Nah, gently caress you! You're an idiot for compromising your ideals, since you should enjoy the poo poo we give you and GoT actors get to judge you for it in the end ahahahahaha!" b) This entire Season can't loving stand on its own to save its own life and is so blatantly written to be a prequel to their upcoming Season 2 that it hurts. Like...I can loving see the writers thinking: "Well, wait! But if we wrap most of the poo poo up this season, that means we'd actually have to come up with a completely original new setting and story for Season 2! Let's just prolong the readers' suffering and railroad them all into one big cliffhanger! Surely, we've broken them in by now and they'll totally take it up the rear end and not call bullshit!" Sad thing is, they're prolly right and most will keep buying Season 2 by this point lol. The GoT show and books are things for masochists. Everyone knows this by now (and hell, I remain a big fan of them even now probably precisely due to there being solid cause and effect within them). But this game series really comes across a lot more like a thing designed for masochists, who also really enjoy railroaded and unoriginal videogame writing that is looking to pad itself out for multiple seasons so that Telltale can suck out more money.
