Yeah but there's plenty of material to make fun of OP for, there's no need to pick the tree clean of the low hanging fruit.

I'm tired of doing the safe option, I'm tired of being the responsible young adult making all the safe and society-accepted choices as to the car I drive and how I drive it. I had enough of that poo poo in the Navy, every single day I was told, "DON'T DO THIS OR ELSE YOUR LIFE WILL FALL APART". I want to go fast. I want to swing around corners like a madman, and I want people to question my sanity every time I get into my car. I want to run at full power until I can't anymore, and then, maybe then, I'll get the car that's the safe option. Then, I'll get the lovely Honda Civic or other such option that lies in my future.

You know now that i read this again is this LITERALLY the speech that clarckson gives at the beginning of Forza? Plus the american dream bit?

So its ok to not disclose frame issues to the next guy, long as that guy is someone you don't know and isn't an AI poster. Also, its especially ok if the person you originally bought the car from didn't disclose it to you. Gotcha.

I honestly felt bad for this dude until he just started talking about loving over the next guy. Then most of AI agreed with him, which is disappointing.

Well technically sperg and the rest of AI didn't know about the frame issues until recently, we foolishly assumed that something that obvious would have been spotted before purchase. If he had sold it before he found out about it, like much of AI had told him, the rust would still have been there. Its wrong of him if he states that the car is rust free when selling, but if he simply neglects to mention it, or throws a coating on in a futile attempt to encapsulate the rust and postpone the inevitable, well then it's on the buyer to do their due diligence when purchasing this heap. There's already plenty of red flags that would tip off most buyers to look over this thing with a microscope before money exchanged hands.

We're just saying, why does sperg have to be the idiot who takes the complete hit for his stupidity. I think his price was a $1k less than he paid (confirm/deny? This thread is too much of a rollercoaster to go through) so he's still hopefully learning a lesson(doubtful but we can dream), and maybe this 300zx will continue teaching the next idiot and the next about doing your due diligence before purchasing a multi-thousand dollar asset.

And I'll reiterate, IOC MOD CHALLENGE, PRETTY PLEASE?

It's not but tbh there's a big difference between cosmetic rust and structural rust.

If the rust is compromising the safety of the car it should be disclosed imo.

Before I post let me preface this by saying, I've only sold cars with full disclosure, usually listed in the posting itself. On the same hand though, I don't buy rusted out shitboxes, so being up front about condition if anything helps me sell said cars.

But that being said, I probably look at more lovely craigslist heaps than the average AI poster because I'm a niceguy and help a lot of friends/family/etc buy cars on craigslist. Hence why I was offering to go look at cars for OP. I've looked at many cars with structural rust and I have never once had a previous owner mention it. I've even had owners lie straight to my face and waste my friends' $100 when I ask to take the car to my mechanic & to let me know if there's any surprises once it gets on the lift. Yeah ok buddy you didn't notice the frame rust when you changed the exhaust on the car, I totally believe that. A lot of these cars are flood cars from the north east brought across the country, complete with title washing. Many of these cars were claimed to be rust-free in the listings. gently caress, earlier this year I dealt with an elderly lady who pretended to be crippled and literally begged me for 500 dollars with some sob story about medical bills (this was after I called her out on faking being crippled) after I told her to gently caress off after wasting my friend's money on a PPI (kind of his fault, he was supposed to bring the jacks)

Basically what I'm trying to say is that it's up to the buyer to know what they're buying; everyone on craigslist is a lying scumbag with a story and you would have to be an idiot to believe anything you read on a car listing that isn't backed up with paperwork or knowledgeable opinion (your own eyes, mechanic, etc) If someone, including OP, spends thousands of dollars on a 20something year old Nissan without a PPI or enough mechanical knowledge to run for the goddamn hills when they see OP's car, they're basically asking for it.

OP being excited about burning the next fool is kind of disgusting but at least he kept it to a PM. If OP is asked by a buyer about rust and lies, OP is a scumbag. If OP simply doesn't mention the rust and the buyer doesn't notice it, he's just like anyone else selling a used car on craigslist.

Are there any threads like this where the OP actually listens and learns? Most project threads don't grab me because they assume that I know what the pictures are pointing out, and I'm a car idiot. This one had potential, but he wants to drive fast and have fixed up a car more than he wants to learn to drive and learn how to fix a car.

I'm guilty of this. Every car I've pretended to drive while it was in the garage sounds exactly like my now crushed NG-900 when I'm behind the wheel sitting still. My E30, my E21, my truck, hell, even my dad's ratrod Chevy II, they all have turbo whoosh, lovely ebay blow off valves and deafening intake / exhaust noise. I'm the human car noise beat box, man.

We friendly NEAI goons did help an aspiring young autist (through IRC and real life mechanical assistance) through the trials and travails of owning and randomly hacking things off a paseo in sperg-fueled fits of daring-do.
