It's okay if you have any questions.

This is peak 90s even if it didn't come out until the mid-2000s.

Burn is arguably the best Cure song released in the 90s

NIN's cover of Dead Souls introduced me to Joy Division

Also knowing what i know now, introducing a bunch of suburban kids to My Life With the Thrill Kill Cult is kinda hilarious

I'm trying to remember the exact moment where Natural Born Killers lost me, but I think it was when they were talking to the Native Americans and it says "too much TV" and I just thought "Oh that's what this movie is about, ugh gently caress this poo poo" and it kept getting worse.

It didn't help, though, that sometimes the mags gambled on games that just fizzled on release.

It was probably a late 80's thing, but I definitely used to have an official Nintendo book that was just a catalog of current NES titles, with a section in the back of preview for new games. I remember looking through it and seeing a bunch of games that never quite made it into production, and several that had different names.

I wish I still had that book, but my brother and I probably destroyed it considering we were dumb kids.

So was Pulp Fiction. 1994 was either a banner year for music, or I was 13, or some combination of both.

Nintendo used to pack one in with the NES. From the era when the cart art was standardized pixels tuff.

I still have mine. I think it has a ROB advert in it

I used to have the Sega Magazine until it died. Then I got Gamepro as they replaced the Sega Magazine sub for like the first month.

I had hundreds at my Grandma’s before she died as she would put them in garage sales convinced people wanted Super Nintendo reviews in tyool 2010.

Yeah, I also had Sega Visions and my sub was changed to Gamepro. When we upgraded to a Playstation, we started the Playstation Underground. My Dad, Brother and I had our collective minds blown when we got the first issue.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPIoOZuoGd8

It goes straight into MST3k, and then some interviews about Net Yaroze homebrew and upcoming games like Gran Turismo. Then they had demos of Japan only releases. And the whole second disk with more demos and trailers. It was such a different and unexpected experience.

MST3K is pretty 90's on its own, but the whole thing is great:

The type and border around the black square are great.

I feel like "frozen thing" was pretty popular then too.

There's a synopsis of all the issues here: https://www.giantbomb.com/playstation-underground/3015-993/

This was always my favorite part of this movie, but I’m trying to decide if it’s cringey these days. On the one hand it excoriates the rich privileged upper class but it kinda uses cultural appropriation to do so.

The Thanksgiving pageant itself is gauche enough nowadays that I don't think it would work as well as it does in the context of the early 90s. But it's very clearly riffing on that exact thing - that audience is so blindingly WASPy white it has to be intentional.

I missed it in theatres, but I was convinced the dad was also played by Van Der Beek but with bad makeup for some reason.

I know whipped cream bikini girl was supposed to be super 90s hot, but I can't imagine how the entire theatre didn't crack up at that.

I don't know why i remember seeing it in theaters, but the crowd did crack up/cheer.

I also vividly recall seeing bride of chucky in the theater and thinking at the time that it was incredibly 90s.
In that opening bit after Jennifer Tilly kills the cop and rob zombie is playing:

Sink into me

Haunted is kind of a house of leaves concept album. But also about her dad? And explaining her dad to the book or vice versa. It’s weird!
