I did a 90s themed project last year and delved into a lot of magazines from '94-'97. Here are a few saved images (most clipped to be use a 'zine style college)

Yeah, I don't think that happened.

I had never heard the term "Generation 13" until last year.

Hey Bart, remember pogs? Well, they're back - in vinyl form!

'60s comedian Foster Brooks wants you to fix impotence with "vacuum therapy." Yeah, that means what you think it means. Fun fact: This ad - along with other companies - was in every issue of the American Legion's very-conservative (damned flag burning liberals!) monthly newsletter. Connection? Hmmmm.

Speaking of radio prank calls, did anybody ever hear this one?

Coincidentally, that call came up on my MP3 player on my commute today. I have it listed as one of Opie and Anthony's bits - but I've never bothered to validate that.

It seems to me that a lot of radio comedy disappeared after the Janet Jackson 'wardrobe malfunction'.

Not surprising. One of YouTube's catalysts was that there was no quick, reliable site to watch "Nipplegate" at any time.

Unless maybe you used RealPlayer.

But the words "quick" and "reliable" are not the first words I'd associate with RP.

Don’t some people count 2000 as the 90s?

I was thinking about that a couple months back and there's just too much "hangover" at both ends. I put the 90s at late Sept '91 (Nevermind hits stores) to Sept '01.

Speaking of 90s ensemble shows, I just learned that Parker Lewis Can't Lose is on Crackle. I haven't sat down yet to see if it holds up, but I watched this Shout TV promo and spontaneously blurted out "Oh my God, Kubiac! [pause] Wait, how do I still remember that?"

It's funny that Parker Lewis was the better Ferris Bueler show than the actual Ferris Bueler show from around the same time.

As long as we're at it, don't forget this other "short lived early 90s sitcom based on a movie."

I wish I knew what NIntendo "omnibus" strategy guide my brother had when I was a kid. It wasn't one of those "How to win at Nintendo Games" books posted just above, it was some other brand.

I just remember seeing screenshots and strategies for a LOT of games that, to 8-10 year old me, looked REALLY cool but I'm sure were absolute dogshit.

That was kind of the case with any video game mag of the day (Nintendo Power, GamePro, etc.) since it was the main way most kids and pre-teens got their info. I'm sure many of us in this thread drooled over some game in those pages but have played it since and sat there going "drat ____ year old me, you were a fool."

It didn't help, though, that sometimes the mags gambled on games that just fizzled on release.

I remember Nintento Power spending 3-6 months hyping up the OG Battletoads only for so many players to abandon the game after level 1.

First track is kinda catchy - then the thing drops off a cliff starting with "Yabba-Dabba-Do!"

But there is: Betty's VO actress saying "the 8-0-8 kick" like she knows what that is, singers who might as well be singing "Can we have our paycheck now?" in "Freddy Funkstone," and a Ina Kamozie SFX sample in "Bedrock Anthem Hop."

I'm really torn on if this was a wasted 33m of my life or not.

I sometimes wonder the same about George Jones making it to 81. (Not sure who ingested more stuff into their bodies, either.)
