Similarly I remember getting songs that had AIM message tones mixed in and ones that halfway through turned into ear splitting static.

I think they were released by record labels as a sort of guerilla tactic, to make downloading songs such a crap shoot you wouldn't bother.

I remember hearing in the early 2000's that Madonna leaked a version of her new single on Napster that, halfway through the song, turned into her just cursing you out for not buying it instead. That sounded pretty funny to me.

I wonder know if he was just bullshitting any ever hear of something like that.

In the 90's, I once had the same thing happen when I bought a Pepsi. It was a shirt instead of a hat, though.

Wow, that image immediately put one of the old TV ads in my head. A guy says "I haven't zipped my fly in years," then talks about the button fly, and advises viewers against pitching it the same way that he did. "You shouldn't go up to someone and say 'Hey, I don't zip my fly!' It's not the best way to start a conversation."

It's honestly kinda impressive how many ideas Sega had ahead of the curve but technology just wasn't ready for it.

Early print ads for the GENESIS touted a modem add-on to allow remote multiplayer. It never made it to market, but the fact that such a thing was even on the table at that point is pretty impressive.

I can't remember if this has already been posted, but when it became clear that the Jaguar was a lost cause, Atari tried to cut their losses and liquidate stock via late night infomercial:

FOr some reason I was reminded that Attack of the Killer Tomatoes, and The Toxic Avenger both had children's cartoons.

The late 80's/early 90's had several R-rated movies turned into cartoons. In addition to the ones you mentioned, there was Robocop and Swamp Thing. I remember the latter because the cartoon made me want to rent the movie (not having any idea of the content), and the guy at Blockbuster told my mom "uh, bad idea."

Moving on...I feel like WMAC Masters must have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but I'm gonna post this anyway. Pure, uncut 90's cheese.

When you watch "Brain Candy" with the knowledge that Dave Foley wanted nothing to do with it, it's very noticeable how little screen time he has compared to the others. Still, it's worth a watch, for things like McKinney's Lorne Michaels impression.
