The Night Mind guy is somewhat up his own rear end, he's a huge fan of Marble Hornets and went on about how great their current project is. I watched some of it and it was pretty "eh".

I don't think it's CG, there's some clever cuts where it loops and they turned the contrast up a bit. It looks like handycam footage to me.

I knew about the bear scene going into the movie, but goddamn I was not prepared for how brutal it actually was. They really didnt pull any punches with the horror scenes, which I think was a really good choice to drive home how hostile the shimmer really was. It reminded me a lot of the J G Ballard story "The Crystal World", almost to the point that I wonder if the author is a fan
